Una hoja nueva / A new leaf

Una hoja estaba atascada,
entre paredes de tonalidad clara,
con delicadeza se contoneaba
y trataba de mantener la calma.

Un ciempiés que vive cerca,
se dio cuenta de la escena,
toma a la hoja con potencia
y la jala con fuerza.

A leaf was stuck,
between light-colored walls,
gently brushing itself off
and trying to stay calm.

A centipede living nearby
noticed the scene,
grabbed the leaf with force
and pulled it hard.

La pobre hoja se rompe en dos
pero esto no causa preocupación,
si una mitad se perdió,
encontrará una mejor.

El viento con afán se acerca
y la media hoja eleva,
dentro de una casa la lleva
y en la cocina entre comida la deja

The poor leaf breaks in two,
but this causes no concern,
if one half is lost,
it will find a better one.

The wind eagerly approaches
and lifts the half leaf,
carries it inside a house
and leaves it in the kitchen among the food.

La media hoja comienza a explorar
se encanta con una lechuga que hay,
la empieza a moldear,
para construir su otra mitad,

Aquella hoja descompuesta,
ahora está como nueva,
es que sabe aprovechar lo que le llega,
sin lamentarse por las pérdidas.

The half leaf begins to explore,
it is enchanted by a lettuce that is there,
it begins to mold it,
to build its other half.

That decomposed leaf
is now like new,
because it knows how to take advantage of what comes its way,
without lamenting its losses.
