Una gota de agua estrafalaria / A drop of bizarre water

Una pequeña gota de agua,
esperaba sobre una cuchara,
quise ser amable y le di fruta picada
para que merendara
y ella se acercó apresurada.

Comió con afán,
tenía hambre de verdad
y creció con velocidad al terminar
pequeña no era más
era una gota de tamaño descomunal.

A tiny drop of water,
waited on a spoon,
I wanted to be kind and gave it chopped fruit
for a snack,
and it hurried over.

It ate eagerly,
it was really hungry,
and it grew quickly when it finished,
it was no longer small,
it was a drop of enormous size.

La gota de agua me miró,
el plato con su mano golpeó,
tenía hambre sin restricción
y comería sin condición
lo que en el plato le pusiera yo.

Le serví mucha agua,
la gota la tomó afanada
y cuando pensé que no pasaría nada,
creció otra vez, de forma exagerada,
ahora era una gota estrafalaria.

The drop of water looked at me,
it hit the plate with its hand,
it was hungry without restraint
and would eat without condition
whatever I put on its plate.

I served it a lot of water,
the drop drank it eagerly
and when I thought nothing would happen,
it grew again, exaggeratedly,
now it was a bizarre drop.

Aquella gota de agua extraña,
pedía más comida con su mirada,
yo, ya no tenía nada
y además estaba cansada,
de alimentar una gota qué no agradece nada.

La tomé y la llevé afuera
y traje una gota nueva
ella se guardó en una taza pequeña
y se esfumó sin pedir comida fresca
así fue como me quedé sin agua en esta vivienda.

That strange drop of water,
begged for more food with its gaze,
I had nothing left
and besides, I was tired
of feeding a drop that showed no gratitude.

I took it outside
and brought back a new drop.
It settled into a small cup
and vanished without asking for fresh food,
leaving me without water in this house.
