Una galleta testaruda / A stubborn cookie

Un día de un paquete verde,
se asomó un ser crujiente
una galleta con mirar inocente
de ojos claros y ternura suficiente.

La galleta sale a explorar
y junto a la taza se intenta parar,
quiere ver, lo que adentro hay,
ya sea café u otra bebida sin igual.

One day, from a green package,
a crispy little creature peeked out,
a cookie with an innocent look,
light eyes, and plenty of tenderness.

The cookie goes out to explore
and tries to stand next to the cup,
it wants to see what’s inside,
whether it’s coffee or some other one of a kind drink.

Pero el borde de la taza no alcanza,
aunque la galleta herguida anda,
siente un olor que le agrada
y en unas bananas se para.

Queda mucho más alta
y logra llegar al filo de la taza,
observa todo con ansias,
hasta que otra galleta del paquete la llama.

But the rim of the cup is out of reach,
though the tall cookie makes its way,
it catches a scent it likes
and stops at some bananas.

It stands much taller
and manages to reach the rim of the cup,
looking around eagerly,
until another cookie from the package calls out to it.

La otra galleta lleva ojos negros
y le dice a la otra que regrese a su aposento
el exterior es incierto
y podría alguien dañar su cuerpo.

La de ojos claros no hace caso
y se despide de la otra con descaro,
hasta que llega un gran pájaro
y le arranca un gran pedazo.

The other cookie has black eyes
and tells the first one to go back to her room,
the outside world is uncertain,
and someone might hurt her.

The one with light eyes pays no heed
and brazenly waves goodbye to the other,
until a large bird arrives
and tears off a big chunk of her.

La galleta se pone histérica
y se guarda con eficiencia
regresa a su hogar con una herida inmensa,
dónde el peligro no la acecha.

The cookie gets hysterical
and hides away efficiently
returning home with a huge wound,
where danger doesn't lurk.
