Un regalo en el calcetín / A gift in a sock

Una yegua color marrón,
camina con determinación,
entra a su guarida sin complicación
y cuando sale,
algo, algo cambio.

Un calcetín en su boca lleva,
de las que en Navidad se cuelgan,
la deja en una piedra bien puesta
y se marcha sin problema,
a la espera de que Santa Claus Venga.

A brown mare,
walks with determination,
enters her den without a hitch,
and when she comes out,
something—something has changed.

She’s carrying a sock in her mouth,
the kind you hang up at Christmas,
leaves it on a well,placed rock,
and walks away without a care,
waiting for Santa Claus to come.

En su ausencia,
una mariposa amarilla llega,
baja entre las piedras
y encuentra una media,
colgada como si un árbol de navidad hubiera.

La mariposa en el calcetín se acomoda,
ahí se siente abrigada y cómoda,
pasan las horas,
llega la noche con sus sombras
y la yegua también se asoma.

In her absence,
a yellow butterfly arrives,
flutters down among the rocks
and finds a sock,
hanging as if it were a Christmas tree.

The butterfly settles into the sock,
there, it feels warm and cozy,
The hours pass,
night falls with its shadows,
and the mare also appears.

Revisa su calcetín con cuidado
y encuentra dentro algo
es una mariposa que estába descansando,
que sale volando
y se posa en la oreja del animal pardo.

Cuando amanece todo se ve mejor,
es una mariposa de amarillo color,
la yegua se siente feliz con lo que recibió
piensa que es el regalo que Santa Claus dejó,
pero la verdad es que, el destino las unió.

She carefully checks her sock
and finds something inside,
it’s a butterfly that was resting there,
which flies away
and lands on the brown animal’s ear.

When dawn breaks, everything looks clearer,
it’s a yellow butterfly,
the mare is happy with what she received,
she thinks it’s a gift Santa Claus left for her,
but the truth is, fate brought them together.
