Un Neumático para Flotar / A Tire to Keep You Afloat
Estaba frente al mar,
viendo el agua ir adelante y atrás,
las olas vienen y van
y un pez naranja logró observar,
pero no parece nadar.
El pobre se está ahogando,
el oleaje lo va empujando
y yo del lugar salgo
para traer un neumático
de colores agraciados.
I was standing by the sea,
watching the water ebb and flow,
the waves coming and going,
and I spotted an orange fish,
but it didn't seem to be swimming.
The poor thing was drowning,
the waves were pushing it along,
and I ran off
to fetch a colorful
inner tube.
Lo lanzó con fuerza al agua,
para que cerca del pez caiga,
él se acerca con ansias
y lo toma con sus aletas naranjas
mientras el agua se mueve afanada.
Me alegra poder ayudar,
es raro un pez que no sabe nadar
se ve raro, agotado está
y me alejo para buscar

He threw it hard into the water,
so it would land near the fish,
who swam eagerly toward it
and grabbed it with his orange fins
while the water swirled frantically.
I’m glad I could help,
it’s rare to see a fish that can’t swim
he looks strange, he’s exhausted,
so I swim away to find
a drink that will give him an extra boost of energy.
Le traigo una bebida especial,
con arándanos, piña y un poco de sal,
me acerco a la orilla con afán,
lanzó el vaso dónde el pez está
y él lo recibe con felicidad.
Toma la bebida con agrado,
el sabor le parece mágico,
le da energía para continuar flotando
en el neumático de colores agraciados
y yo me alegro de que no se haya ahogado.
I bring him a special drink,
with blueberries, pineapple, and a pinch of salt,
I hurry to the shore,
throw the cup where the fish is,
and he happily catches it.
He drinks it with pleasure,
the taste seems magical to him,
it gives him energy to keep floating
on the gracefully colored inner tube,
and I’m glad he didn’t drown
