Un hogar bajo la galleta / A home under the cookie

Una galleta estaba en el suelo
seguro se cayó hace un momento,
no se dañó, tiene intacto su cuerpo
quiero cogerla pero se mueve con misterio.

La dejó tranquila un momento
y bajo ella algo veo,
es un monstruo de ojos tiernos
que se apropio del alimento.

A cookie was on the floor,
it must have fallen a moment ago,
it wasn't damaged, its body was intact,
I want to pick it up, but it moves mysteriously.

I left it alone for a moment,
and under it I see something,
it's a monster with tender eyes
that took possession of the food.

Debo salvar la galleta
y traigo una avena en hojuela,
para que espante al ser que está bajo ella
y así liberarla de esta tragedia.

La avena va bajo la galleta
y un buen rato se queda
reviso para ver si se solucionó el problema
pero no, ahora son cómplices y la galleta no dejan.

I must save the cookie,
and I bring some rolled oats,
to scare away the creature beneath it
and thus free it from this tragedy.

The oats go under the cookie,
and for a long time they remain there,
I check to see if the problem has been solved,
but no, now they are accomplices and they won't leave the cookie alone.

Entendí que era su hogar
y la galleta no les debía quitar,
les hice un letrero con afán
que decía "No Tocar".

Sobre la galleta dejé el letrero
y me marché del aposento,
así evitaré que se lleven el alimento
y dejen sin hogar a una avena y a un esperpento.

I understood that it was their home
and I shouldn't take their cookie,
so I eagerly made them a sign
that said “Do Not Touch.”

I left the sign on top of the cookie
and left the room,
so they wouldn't take the food
and leave an oatmeal cookie and a monster homeless.
