Un clavo caído/A fallen nail

Un clavo se cayó
sólito se soltó,
giro y giro sin razón
y sobre el piso se precipitó.

Cuando esto pasó,
me asusté por el ruido que generó,
estaba viendo la televisión
y de la silla salté yo.

A nail fell out,
it came loose on its own,
spinning and spinning for no reason,
and fell to the floor.

When this happened,
I was startled by the noise it made.
I was watching television
and jumped out of my chair.

No entendía de donde venía el ruido
y comencé a buscar el motivo,
luego vi el clavo en el piso
y entendí que se había caído.

Lo tomé con cuidado
y lo puse sobre un banco,
sería mejor guardarlo
y buscar bien donde ubicarlo.

I didn't understand where the noise was coming from,
and I started looking for the cause.
Then I saw the nail on the floor,
and I realized it had fallen out.

I picked it up carefully
and put it on a bench.
It would be better to put it away
and find a good place to store it.

Fui a buscar mi maleta de herramientas
para guardarlo en esta
y durante mi ausencia
el clavo empezó a huir de la vivienda.

Es que no era un clavo,
era en realidad un gusano,
que ignorante me he portado
con un animal que su hogar estaba buscando.

I went to get my toolbox
to store it in this one,
and during my absence,
the nail began to flee from the house.

It wasn't a nail,
it was actually a worm,
how ignorant I have been
to an animal that was looking for a home.
