Las Hojas Falsas / The False Leaves
Una polilla bien camuflada,
sobre un cactus descansa,
nadie notará que ahí anda
porque como hojas verdes son sus alas.
Pasa por ahí una hormiga
de las que comen hojas sin medida,
mira el cactus con intriga,
es que sus espinas son bonitas.
A well-camouflaged moth
rests on a cactus,
no one will notice it’s there
because its wings look just like green leaves.
An ant walks by,
one of those that eat leaves without restraint,
and looks at the cactus with curiosity,
it’s just that its spines are pretty.

It begins to climb carefully
so the thorns won’t hurt it,
reaches the place where the leaves are
and bites one eagerly.
Immediately, the moth is startled,
its camouflaged wings have been bitten,
it plunges to the ground,
and the ant doesn’t understand what’s happening.

The moth begins to explain to him
about the different types of camouflage,
showing him a book nearby
so he can understand clearly.
The ant understands the situation
and lovingly bandages his wing,
heals the wound from the bite he received,
and goes off to look for leaves that aren't imitations.
