Las Alas del Agua / The Wings of Water

De lo alto va cayendo,
una gota que viene desde el cielo,
se pierde entre los apartamentos
y se asoma desde uno de ellos.

Sale del lugar sin afán
y comienza a explorar,
mira hacia el cielo para ver qué hay
y ahí permanece con su bella tonalidad.

It falls from above,
a drop coming from the sky,
it disappears among the apartment buildings
and peeks out from one of them.

It leaves the place without haste
and begins to explore,
it looks up at the sky to see what’s there
and remains there with its beautiful hue.

A centipede arrives at the spot
and approaches the drop calmly,
picks it up with a leg without asking,
the water gets scared and scurries off to one side.

The insect wanders off for a while
and then returns dragging a jar,
the drop flees but the centipede catches it gently
and places it inside the jar.

Se la lleva con cuidado,
para no lastimar la gota que ha tomado
y cuando regresa algo ha cambiado,
el agua viene entusiasmada caminado.

Trae alas nuevas y blancas,
que tenía el insecto en la casa,
con estas se eleva con ansias
y regresa contenta a su casa.

She carries it gently,
so as not to hurt the drop she’s gathered,
and when she returns, something has changed—
the water comes walking along, full of excitement.

It has new, white wings,
the ones the insect had in the house,
and with these, it soars eagerly
and returns happily to its home.

My ACcount as an accountant sees that moment when the drop finally gets those white wings as a tiny asset finally being re valued. I love how the centipede handles the water with such care – its like an auditor gently checking every figure. The scene where the drop walks back home with its new wings just made me smile, dro|p of joy :).
