En la plaza de la ciudad,
hay una estatua de dorada tonalidad,
dicen el cobre es su material,
brilla tanto que podría pensar
que es de oro, oro de verdad.

In the city square,
there is a statue of golden hue,
they say copper is its material,
it shines so bright that you might think
it's gold, real gold.

Me acercó con un trapo
y limpio la estatua con cuidado,
pero, la brillo tanto, tanto
que da un gran salto,
un salto exagerado.

He approached me with a rag
and wiped the statue carefully,
but, I shine it so much, so much
that it gives a big jump,
an exaggerated jump.

Alcanza la estratosfera,
no lo veo, pero es que mucho demora
y cuando baja por el peso que le sobra,
ya no es una estatua de rara forma,
sino un sol que ilumina la zona.

It reaches the stratosphere,
I don't see it, but it takes a long time
and when it descends because of the weight it has left over,
it is no longer a strangely shaped statue,
but a sun that illuminates the area.
