La espinaca que anhela la primavera / The spinach that longs for spring

He dejado sobre la mesa,
unas hojas de espinaca fresca,
las quité del tallo sin problema
y las reservé para una ensalada nueva,
que vi en un libro de recetas.

Una hoja de estas,
no se queda quieta,
se baja del plato sin problema
y se oculta, no acepta que la vea,
quiere huir a conocer la primavera.

I have left on the table,
some fresh spinach leaves,
I removed them from the stem without any problem
and I reserved them for a new salad,
that I saw in a recipe book.

One of these leaves,
does not stay still,
gets off the plate without any problem
and hides, does not accept to be seen,
wants to run away to meet the spring.

Empiezo la preparación,
tomo las hojas para llevarlas a hervor
y la espinaca que se ocultó,
camina con temor
y entre cucharas se oculta con determinación.

Esta llega hasta la avena
y un disfraz hace con esta,
copos en su cuerpo pega
y ahora una arepa pareciera,
andando como si del mundo fuera dueña.

I start the preparation,
I take the leaves to bring them to boil
and the spinach that was hidden,
walks with fear
and between spoons it hides with determination.

It reaches the oatmeal
and makes a disguise with it,
flakes in its body sticks
and now it looks like an arepa,
walking as if it owned the world.

Se lanza de la mesa
y una hormiga la encuentra,
con prudencia la lleva,
a un jardín que hay cerca,
para que disfrute de una vida buena

Y ahí se queda aquella espinaca,
que desafío la cocina de la casa,
entre hojas se siente animada,
prendida de un tallo llena de esperanza
a la espera de la primavera anhelada.

It is thrown from the table
and an ant finds it,
with prudence takes it,
to a garden nearby,
to enjoy a good life.

And there remains that spinach,
that challenge the kitchen of the house,
between leaves feels lively,
clinging to a stem full of hope
waiting for the longed-for spring.
