El hogar del gusano / The worm's home
Me encontré un gusano inmenso
y me dió pena verlo en el suelo
lo traje a mi aposento
y lo dejé en un arbusto pequeño.
Me senté en la silla de la sala
y cerré los ojos para que descansarán,
me dormí de forma exagerada
y me caí para atrás, en el piso quedé tirada.
I found a huge worm,
and I felt sorry for it lying on the ground,
I took it to my room
and placed it in a small bush.
I sat down in the living room chair
and closed my eyes to rest,
but I fell asleep so deeply
that I fell backward and ended up sprawled on the floor.
Me levanté con cuidado
y noté al gusano extraño,
saltó de dónde lo había dejado
y yo me fui hasta su lado.
Con mi pie lo detuve un momento
hasta que el animal se quedó quieto,
lo tomé del suelo
y entendí que no debí traerlo.
I got up carefully
and noticed the strange worm,
it jumped from where I’d left it,
and I walked over to it.
I held it down with my foot for a moment
until the creature stopped moving,
I picked it up from the ground
and realized I shouldn’t have brought it.
Salí de mi aposento
y camine hasta un bosque bello,
dejé el gusano en el suelo
y él se enterró para mantenerse fresco.
Quería hacer el bien
y de su ambiente lo saqué
pero ahora, yo se bien
que los animales en su hogar deben permanecer.
I left my room
and walked to a beautiful forest,
I set the worm down on the ground,
and it burrowed in to keep cool.
I wanted to do the right thing
and took it out of its natural habitat,
but now I know
that animals should stay in their homes.
