Por una cañería de la gran ciudad,
va saliendo algo irreal,
es una estrella de mar
y no sé cómo llegó a este lugar.

La estrella se trepa en la cañería
y ahí se queda tranquila,
nadie la busca, se siente no querida
y en este lugar empezará una nueva vida.

Through a pipe in the big city,
something unreal is emerging,
it’s a starfish,
and I don’t know how it got here.

The starfish climbs up the pipe
and stays there quietly,
no one is looking for it, it feels unwanted,
and here it will begin a new life.

Pasa por el lugar un caracol,
con una coraza de marrón color,
la estrella se llena de admiración
y analiza la situación.

Se esconde y cuando el animal pasa,
con sus ventosas toma la coraza,
el caracol no entiende lo que pasa
y da la vuelta para recuperar su valva.

A snail crawls by,
with a brown shell,
the star is filled with wonder
and assesses the situation.

It hides, and when the snail passes by,
it grabs the shell with its suction cups,
the snail doesn’t understand what’s happening
and turns around to retrieve its shell.

La estrella de mar toma la coraza
y la pone sobre sí, con gracia,
ahora lleva una casa
y esto la hace sentir afortunada.

El caracol se queda nostálgico,
pero la felicidad de la estrella le da agrado
y cuando se está marchando
la estrella lo llama afanado.

The starfish picks up the shell
and places it on itself, gracefully,
now it has a home,
and this makes it feel lucky.

The snail feels a bit wistful,
but the starfish’s happiness pleases it,
and as it’s leaving,
the starfish calls out to it eagerly.

Le regresa su coraza con amor,
ella no se quedará en esta nación
la estrella irá con determinación,
al océano, dónde nació.

Ya conoció el lugar
y aunque creyó que sería ideal,
con el tiempo empezó a extrañar,
el agua salada y los arrecifes que en casa están.

She returns her armor with love,
she will not stay in this land,
the star will journey with determination
to the ocean, where she was born.

She has already seen the place,
and though she thought it would be perfect,
over time she began to miss
the salt water and the reefs back home.
