El Día que la Luna se Convirtió en Rayo de Sol /The Day the Moon Turned into a Ray of Sunshine

En una alfombra mágica,
la luna un día baja,
llega a una ciudad solitaria
pero el pavimento no le agrada,
es frío y eso lo espanta.

Tras varios intentos,
deciende de ella sin miedo
y aunque está frío el suelo,
se va caminando lento,
la ciudad va conociendo.

On a magic carpet,
the moon descends one day,
arriving at a lonely city,
but it doesn’t like the pavement,
it’s cold, and that frightens it.

After several attempts,
it steps down without fear,
and though the ground is cold,
it walks slowly
and gets to know the city.

Deja la alfombra mágica olvidada
y un planeta llega a tomarla,
es Mercurio que de azul anda,
se sube en la alfombra con ansias
y feliz al universo se marcha.

Cuando la Luna al lugar regresa,
nota que robaron su pertenencia
no puede irse y la noche llega,
entonces una nube se acerca
y le regala un suéter de naranja para que frío no sienta.

The magic carpet is left behind,
and a planet comes to take it,
it’s Mercury, gliding through the blue,
eagerly climbing onto the carpet
and happily setting off into the universe.

When the Moon returns to the spot,
she notices her possession has been stolen,
she can’t leave, and night falls,
then a cloud approaches
and gives her an orange sweater so she won’t feel the cold.

La Luna ahora está bien vestida
y cuando amanece en la villa,
el sol baja, se acerca enseguida
y carga al astro con alegría
es un rayito de luz que añoraba en su vida.

El sol, el rayo falso se lleva
y en el cielo se quedan
la Luna regresó a su vivienda,
ya no como astro de gris belleza
pero si como un rayo de gran luminiscencia.

The Moon is now beautifully dressed,
and when dawn breaks over the village,
the sun descends, drawing near at once,
and fills the Moon with joy,
it is a ray of light she had longed for in her life.

The sun takes the false ray away,
and in the sky remain
the Moon, returned to her home,
no longer a celestial body of gray beauty,
but a ray of brilliant light.
