El Día que el Ganso Trajo el Mar / The Day a Goose Brought the Sea

Un ganso trae con empeño
una forma de color intenso;
lo arrastra, está pesado el cuerpo
y lo deja en la pradera con esfuerzo.

Tras un rato el cuerpo se voltea,
es una estrella de gran belleza,
vienen huyendo de una ballena,
que quería comersela.

A goose carries, with determination,
a brightly colored shape;
it drags it—the object is very heavy—
and sets it down on the meadow with great effort.

After a while, the object turns around:
it is a star of great beauty;
they are fleeing from a whale
that wanted to eat it.

El ganso a huir la ayudó
y la deja para buscar agua en otra locación,
mientras tanto llega el sol
y la estrella se alarma y con razón.

El sol la va a deshidratar
y esto la podría lastimar,
la estrella se esconde con afán,
bajo un tronco que cerca está.

The goose helped her escape
and left her to find water elsewhere,
while the sun began to rise,
and the star grew alarmed—and rightly so.

The sun was going to dehydrate her,
and this could hurt her;
the star hurriedly hid
under a nearby log.

El ganso regresa tras un rato
y trae el océano arrastrando,
llena el lugar con el agua de inmediato
y comienzan a nadar emocionados.

El sol, al ver esto, se entusiasma
y al agua,sin miedo salta.
Por un rato el mundo se apaga
y queda oscuro porque el sol nada.

The goose returns after a while
and brings the ocean with it,
filling the place with water right away,
and they begin to swim excitedly.

The sun, seeing this, gets excited
and fearlessly jumps into the water.
For a moment, the world goes dark
because the sun is swimming.

El ganso al ver la situación,
saca al sol con precaución,
le dice que debe ir de dónde salió
y seguir iluminando el mundo sin restricción.

Seeing the situation, the goose
cautiously brings the sun out,
tells it that it must return to where it came from
and continue to illuminate the world without restriction.
