Santa Claus is driving his car
and parks it carefully,
leaves the car alone
and goes to take a nap,
because night has fallen.
While he’s away,
when the darkness is at its deepest,
a thief appears on the scene,
approaches the parked car
and gets in without hesitation.

He starts the car with excitement
and drives off cautiously,
he stole it, he’s a thief,
and left Santa Claus without a car,
even though Santa had parked it so neatly.
When the sun comes up again,
Santa Claus goes to his car,
but he can’t find it anymore,
and he cries, he cries without restraint,
until a donkey comes up to him.

The animal wipes away his tears
and promises to help him with his mission,
he brings a boat, which he pulls along with all his might,
and tells Santa
to climb aboard, without fear of anything.
Santa Claus no longer rides in a car,
but instead travels in a beautiful boat,
there are no reindeer pulling him along anymore,
but there is a grayish donkey
that will take him out on Christmas Eve to deliver the gifts.
