Dos Sombreros / Two Hats

Mientras mi perro dormía en la sala,
llegué con algo que pesaba,
era una caja parda
y la arrastre con fuerzas y ganas.

La abrí despacio
y al quitar la tapa me quedé asombrado,
es un sombrero blanco y pardo,
elegante y del tamaño indicado.

While my dog was sleeping in the living room,
I came in carrying something heavy,
it was a brown box,
and I dragged it along with all my might.

I opened it slowly,
and when I lifted the lid, I was amazed,
it was a white and brown hat,
elegant and just the right size.

De inmediato lo puse sobre mi cabeza
y la medida es perfecta,
en ese instante mi perro despierta
y hacia donde estoy se acerca.

Yo de nuevo voy hasta la caja
y saco otra pieza magna,
es un sombrero con las mismas marcas,
para mí perro y que luce con gracia.

I immediately put it on my head,
and the fit is perfect,
just then, my dog wakes up
and comes over to where I am.

I go back to the box
and take out another great item,
it’s a hat with the same markings,
for my dog, and it fits him perfectly.

Mi perro y yo estamos iguales,
con sombreros similares,
salimos de la casa con afanes
queremos recorrer la calle.

Y cuando llega el sol con su fuerza,
ya no nos amedrenta
sus rayos a nuestra piel no llegan
gracias a los sombreros que nos protegen con eficiencia.

My dog and I look alike,
wearing similar hats,
we rush out of the house,
eager to explore the street.

And when the sun comes out in full force,
it no longer intimidates us,
its rays don’t reach our skin
thanks to the hats that protect us so effectively.
