Skiing On A Trail Completely New To Me

IMG_1023.JPG

It was about 0 C. Thanks to the snowfall yesterday, the trail seems to be in ok condition.

I asked someone who knows the trails in the northern part of the city better than I whether they're all like this and the answer was yes.

A golf course ahead!

There it is.

Golf course. Stay away. I think most will in this weather even without telling them to.

This is where I'll turn back. Lake Alasenjärvi ahead.

Mostly downhill from here

Lake Merrasjärvi at the same end as the parking area was where I left my car. I'm guessing the ice is strong enough to carry a skier. Hoping for a week-long cold spell. Provided we'll get one, the likelihood that the city will make tracks on lake ice goes up.

There are very few things that I miss about cold weather. I've lived in tropical countries for nearly the past 2 decades. I do miss a couple of things though and skiing is one of them. It is so peaceful and honestly, it's like therapy. I wonder how I would do if after all these years I were to strap on some skis and give is a shot. I reckon i'd do ok.

That's a very apt description of skiing.

I went for some years without skiing and gained some weight during the pause. I had not lost my skills but I don't know if it was the weight gain or my skills getting rusty but I did feel a bit clumsier than before.
