Lake Kymijärvi Is Starting To Freeze Over
It's been freezing for many days now. Small lakes are starting to freeze over. I went over to the shore of Lake Kymijärvi to take some shots.
I arrived shortly after sunrise at about 8:50 am.
This is a small public beach.
The lake is about six kilometers long in the northwest-southeast direction. I was close to the northwestern end.
Those properties are just outside of the urban area. They have septic tanks and their own wells from which their water is pumped. Five years ago, when my wife and I were looking for a house, an interesting one was on the market in that area. Houses in the area are accessible via a small forest road from the nearest point in the street network. A contractor regularly clears the road of snow but using the road would've been painful after heavy snowfall at worst. When I went to a viewing, I came close to getting stuck with my car in a steep slope. An SUV with 4x4 drive and enough ground clearance would've been a must. The quality of the water in the well would also required monitoring. But many people were interested in the house and it was quickly sold.
The light blue one on the left is wonderful. It's a version of Rauhala by Kannustalo that comes with a large basement. There is a large garage on the other side of it.
It was also on the market but way out of our budget. And it would've had the same issues as the one I went to see.
The freezing starts from the shores particularly in places protected from waves.
That's another version of Rauhala, I think.
There is very thin ice up to about 10 m from the shore.
I took a walk along the shore.
I wonder what that is. The foundations of an old sauna?
On my way back to my car. I like that one, too. It was probably built in the 1990s.

The landscape over there is looking pretty with all those snow around there hahaha...
in summer you can fish in that lake?
You can fish in it any time of the year. It's frozen over normally about four months. The ice is thick enough to carry a person maybe three months a year. You just drill a hole and fish.
