Visitando la "Feria de Invierno" en la Plaza Osorio [ESP-ENG]
Desde que llegué a Curitiba noté que es una ciudad con mucha actividad y movimiento, algo que me gusta porque es un lugar en el que nunca me voy a aburrir y aunque no me alcanza el tiempo para poder asistir a cada evento y actividad siempre que puedo visito algunas para no perderme completamente de todo y una que no me quise perder fue la Feria de Invierno en la Plaza Osorio, a la cual fui la semana pasada y hoy les quiero compartir mi experiencia.
Since I arrived in Curitiba I noticed that it is a city with a lot of activity and movement, something that I like because it is a place where I will never get bored and although I do not have enough time to attend every event and activity, whenever I can I visit some so as not to miss out completely on everything and one that I did not want to miss was the Winter Fair in Plaza Osorio, which I went to last week and today I want to share my experience with you.
La Plaza Osorio ubicada en el centro de la ciudad es donde suelen hacer este tipo de ferias en diferentes épocas del año dependiendo de la época, en esta ocasión es versión invierno y pese a las bajas temperaturas que hemos estado experimentando la feria estuvo bastante concurrida el día que la visitamos.
Esta feria cuenta con una gran cantidad de locales tipo toldo, todos de emprendedores que exhiben su mercancía al público diariamente durante aproximadamente un mes y medio. Hicimos un recorrido por toda la feria, vimos cada uno de los puestos y encontramos una gran variedad de artículos, especialmente artesanias, desde llaveros, macetas, adornos para el hogar como colgantes, paños de cocina, tazas, tapetes, adornos para la puerta y peluches, variedad de artículos para el invierno como pantuflas, bufandas, gorros y guantes, mayormente tejidos a mano, también muchos recuerdos con icónicos lugares de la ciudad y hasta plantas y cactus con lindas y coloridas macetas y adornos.
Plaza Osorio, located in the city center, is where these types of fairs usually take place at different times of the year depending on the season. This time it's a winter version, and despite the low temperatures we've been experiencing, the fair was quite busy the day we visited.
This fair has a large number of tent-style stalls, all owned by entrepreneurs who display their wares to the public daily for approximately a month and a half. We toured the entire fair, saw each of the stalls, and found a wide variety of items, especially handicrafts, from keychains, flower pots, home decorations such as pendants, tea towels, mugs, mats, door decorations, and stuffed animals, as well as a variety of winter items such as slippers, scarves, hats, and gloves, mostly hand-knitted. There were also many souvenirs featuring iconic landmarks in the city, and even plants and cacti in pretty, colorful pots and ornaments.
Tambien hay toda una área gastronomica donde encontramos diferentes opciones para degustar, en su gran mayoría elaborados con maíz, como tortas caseras, maíz sancochado, pudín de maíz, bebida a base de maíz y más.
There's also a whole gastronomic area where we find different options to taste, mostly made with corn, such as homemade cakes, boiled corn, corn pudding, corn-based drinks, and more.
Parte de la gastronomía en esta época es algo llamado Pinhão , el cual es como una especie de castaña que se prepara de diferentes maneras, desde sancochado, asada, tostada y hasta guisada, es muy típico de esta ciudad y en esta temporada es cuando más se consigue y se consume.
También existe una bebida llamada Quentão la cual es un vino caliente que contiene varias especias, entre ellas jengibre, canela y clavo, y adicionalmente se le puede agregar alcohol dependiendo de los gustos, esta es también una bebida típica de Brasil, la cual se acostumbra a consumir en época de invierno ya que es perfecta para calentarse y en esta feria encontramos muchos lugares que la ofrecían, por lo que quisimos probarla para viciar también la experiencia y la verdad no me encantó, supongo que es cuestión de costumbre pero lo que si puedo asegurar es que si ayuda a calentar el cuerpo para soportar el frío.
Part of the gastronomy at this time is something called Pinhão, which is like a type of chestnut that is prepared in different ways, from boiled, roasted, toasted, and even stewed. It is very typical of this city and is most commonly found and consumed during this time of year.
There is also a drink called Quentão, which is a mulled wine containing various spices, including ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Alcohol can also be added depending on your taste. This is also a typical Brazilian drink, usually consumed in winter as it is perfect for warming up. At this fair, we found many places offering it, so we wanted to try it to experience it as well. I honestly didn't love it. I guess it's a matter of habit, but what I can assure you is that it does help warm the body to withstand the cold.
Ese día visitamos la feria en compañía de nuestras amigas Jenny y Mau y su familia, por lo que pasamos una noche bastante agradable junto a ellos, visitando esta linda feria de invierno y probando por primera vez el popular Quentão, sin duda una gran experiencia que disfrutamos mucho.
That day we visited the fair with our friends Jenny and Mau and their family, so we spent a very pleasant evening with them, visiting this lovely winter fair and trying the popular Quentão for the first time, without a doubt a great experience that we enjoyed a lot.
