| 🇫🇷 C'est un jour de fête ! Un jour où les barques traditionnelles vont sortir fièrement et occuper toute la baie de Boa Vista pour une régate. Je le répète au delà d'une fête de bateaux, il s'agit ici de la fête fierté. Mener ces barques à l'aide d'une voile que je vais qualifier de latine, c'est ici un signe extérieur de savoir, de grandeur, de "CapVerdianisme". Ces barques ont été utilisées pendant longtemps pour transporter les marchandises. Souvent pour de petits trajets entre le mouillage des gros navires et la côte. Parfois sur de plus longues distances entre les îles, ce qui n'est pas une mince navigation lorsqu'on connait les caprices de la mer au Cap-Vert. Elles ont été utilisées également pour la pêche plus ou moins grande distance de la côte. Et puis les bateaux à moteurs sont arrivés, les ports ont été aménagés et protégés et tout doucement l'utilité des barques à voiles s'est amenuisé pour quasiment dire disparu. Certaines barques se sont alors converties. Les moteurs hors bord sont venus remplacées les voiles pour se transformer soit en barque de pêche soit en barque touristique, soit les deux ! Mais certaines barques ont la tête dure, à l'image de leur capitaine! Rien ne peut les convertir. La voile est restée, le moteur hors bord n'a pas pu allé plus loin que la plage, la tradition a redoublé de fierté et tout continue comme si... Et c'est tant mieux pour nos yeux ravis par le spectacle que donnent ces bateaux excellemment bien menés par leur capitaine. Ce samedi c'était la fête sur le plan d'eau de Boa Vista ! |
🇬🇧 It’s a day of celebration! A day when traditional boats will proudly go out and occupy the whole bay of Boa Vista for a regatta. I repeat, beyond a boat party, this is the pride party. To lead these boats with the help of a sail that I will qualify as Latin, it is here an outward sign of knowledge, of greatness, of "CapVerdianism." These boats have been used for a long time to transport goods. Often for short trips between the mooring of large ships and the coast. Sometimes over longer distances between the islands, which is no mean feat when one knows the caprices of the sea in Cape Verde. They were also used for fishing more or less far from the coast. And then motor boats arrived, the ports were developed and protected and slowly the usefulness of sailing boats was reduced to almost disappeared. Some boats were then converted. The outboard engines have replaced the sails to transform themselves into either a fishing boat or a tourist boat, or both! But some boats have hard heads, just like their captain! Nothing can convert them. The sail remained, the outboard engine couldn’t go any further than the beach, the tradition has redoubled with pride and everything continues as if... And that’s good for our eyes, delighted by the spectacle these boats give, excellently well led by their captain. This Saturday it was the party on the lake of Boa Vista! |
