🇫🇷 Le Cap-Vert mérite un détour. Je suis plutôt bien placé pour le dire car en ce qui me concerne, ce détour dure depuis 6 ans maintenant ! Selon le plan initial il s'agissait d'une escale comme on en fait lorsqu'on voyage en bateau. Tenu par la durée des visas et les saisons des vents, ces escales durent en général entre quelques semaines et 3 mois. Et puis, le pays m'a plu, j'ai trainé les pieds pour reprendre la route de l'ouest, et Covid est arrivé ! De quoi me laisser du temps pour apprécier encore davantage ce pays. J'y ai découvert être un pays libre, et eu le temps de m'attarder sur une grande partie des îles de l'archipel.
🇬🇧 Cape Verde deserves a detour. I am rather well placed to say it because as far as I’m concerned, this detour has been going on for 6 years now! According to the initial plan, it was a stopover as we do when traveling by boat. Due to the duration of visas and the wind seasons, these stopovers generally last between a few weeks and 3 months. And then, I liked the country, I dragged my feet to take the road from the west again, and Covid arrived! Enough to give me time to appreciate this country even more. I discovered there to be a free country, and had the time to linger on a large part of the islands of the archipelago. One of the most beautiful anchorages in the archipelago is undoubtedly Tarrafal de San Antao.

🇫🇷 L'un des plus beaux mouillages de l'archipel est sans aucun doute Tarrafal de San Antao. J'y suis arrivé la première fois à la "libération" post Covid de nos embarcations. Assoifés de liberté, nous étions quelques uns à fuir notre mouillage de quarantaine à peine l'autorisation donnée de reprendre la mer. Direction San Antao pour moi, une île dont j'entendais le plus grand bien depuis un an. Les îles du Cap-Vert sont à l'images des archipels de la Maraconie relativement humides au nord et au vent, et absolument sèches voire désertique au sud sous le vent. C'est au Sud-ouest devant le village de Tarrafal que je jette l'ancre et découvert un paysage assez fou. Une baie protégée des vents dominants et mon catamaran aux pieds des 2000m d'un volcan qui fera mon bonheur à chacun de mes réveils durant quelques semaines. Le décor est incroyable. Le village est quant à lui niché à la sortie d'une vallée asséchée et où les agriculteurs ont mis en place des stratégies de restanques et d'irrigation faisant en sorte que chaque goutte d'eau puisse être exploitée. Un atout pour l'agriculture locale mais un désastre pour la rivière initiale qui voit son lit totalement asséché.
🇬🇧 One of the most beautiful anchorages in the archipelago is undoubtedly Tarrafal de San Antao. I arrived there the first time at the post-COVID 'release' of our boats. Assoiated with freedom, a few of us were fleeing our quarantine anchorage just as soon as permission was given to return to the sea. Direction to San Antao for me, an island of which I had heard the greatest good for a year. The islands of Cape Verde are in the image of the archipelagoes of Maraconie relatively humid in the north and windward, and absolutely dry or even desert in the south under the wind. It is in the southwest in front of the village of Tarrafal that I drop anchor and discover a rather crazy landscape. A bay protected from the prevailing winds and my catamaran at the feet of 2000m of a volcano that will make my happiness each time I wake up for a few weeks. The decor is incredible. The village, on the other hand, is nestled at the edge of a dry valley and where farmers have implemented strategies for land reclamation and irrigation so that every drop of water can be tapped. An asset for local agriculture but a disaster for the initial river which sees its bed completely dried up.

🇫🇷 En mer, la pêche est restée traditionnelle. Il y a un rythme presque transparent mais pourtant bien réel. Les retours matinaux des pêcheurs nocturnes, le départ des lève tôt, la passation du poisson des hommes aux femmes qui le découperont pour le revendre, la maintenance du matériel et la sieste bien méritée pour tout le monde. Je vous laisse ici quelques paysage et scène de vie de ce village où je suis retourné plusieurs fois, toujours avec la même admiration.

The morning returns of night fishermen, the departure of early birds, the transfer of fish from men to women who will cut it for resale, maintenance of equipment and a well-deserved nap for everyone.
