Iguanas are reptiles characterized by their dorsal crest, scaly skin, and long tail, and are generally herbivorous. They inhabit the tropical regions of the American continent, and some species, such as the green iguana, are arboreal and excellent swimmers, capable of climbing trees with great speed and ease.
In Venezuela, it is common to find iguanas in many places: parks, gardens, trees, etc., either walking or climbing. In certain regions of the country, iguanas are even consumed as food, their meat being as popular as other more commonly consumed proteins such as chicken, pork, or beef.
Yesterday afternoon, I found this huge specimen walking carefree among the parked cars a few meters away, which allowed me to take some photos before it fled from my proximity.
As I have described in previous posts, I process the original photographs using the editing tools offered in their free versions by the applications Picsart and Snapseed.

Las iguanas son reptiles que se caracterizan por su cresta dorsal, piel cubierta de escamas y una larga cola, generalmente herbívoros. Habitan en las zonas tropicales del continente americano, y algunas especies, como la iguana verde, son arborícolas y excelentes nadadoras, capaces de trepar árboles con gran rapidez y facilidad.
En Venezuela es común encontrar iguanas en muchas partes: parques, jardines, árboles, etc., bien sea caminando o trepando. Incluso, en ciertas regiones del país, la iguana se consume como alimento, siendo su carne tan popular como otras proteínas mas comúnmente consumidas como el pollo, el cerdo o la res.
Ayer en la tarde, encontré este enorme ejemplar caminando despreocupadamente entre los carros estacionados a escasos metros, lo que permitió tomarle algunas fotos antes de que huyera ante mi cercanía.
Como he descrito en posts anteriores, las fotografías originales las proceso haciendo uso de las herramientas de edición que ofrecen en sus versiones gratuitas las aplicaciones Picsart y Snapseed.
