I lost my old lady feral cat Miss P. She was 16 and had been struggling with digestive issues for a while. Being feral, I didn't think it in her best interests to pursue intensive diagnoses or treatments so she was on cortisone, which seemed to help. Once that stopped working, I figured it kindest to let her go.
I was surprised that you lost Mary so young
She ruled the house but it's also noted that feral colonies are ruled by the female cats. The males fight with outsiders but the colony pecking order is determined by the females. That's how my house is operated. Now there's only one female so there's less friction than before

Wow! They are all taking a nap! So very comfortable and happy in that sunny room!
Are they more relaxed now that Mary isn't around? My cats have chilled out a lot recently
They definitely have more freedom of movement... @nikv Which cat did you lose? What happened and how old was he? Scary was only about 6 yrs.

Cats don't show signs of illness sometimes till it's to late . So Miss P. was a big personality cat too ?

I see the females rule. Saw that in a wild dog pack once..
