More Apex Than Thou Art

Greetings, Fellow Storkspotters!

I did promise another stork, didn't I? It was in my recent Eagle post, though. Anyway, the size of one of the birds might have been exaggerated. I know the size of the man was.

That would be the statue at the west entrance of the town of Aetos, Bulgaria.

And I've seen this "uncle" with the eagle countless times.

Not quite like this, though.

Being not an excellent study of a human body, it is understandable why birds have found it worthy of criticism, too. And have left their reMarks.

It reminds me of a joke in which an omnipotent entity gives a couple of nude statues, one of a man, one of a woman (and don't ask me for the definition of those, you're old enough to remember) the chance to have one hour as animated creatures and use their time as they would like. What passers-by would hear from behind the bushes was something in the lines of...

This is amazing! It's your turn to hold the damned pigeon down now, and it's my turn to defecate on its head.

Well, I remember seeing folks in western Europe having taken some care of this problem here and there by planting many tiny needles along the top sides of sculptures, gargoyles, architectural works, etc.

Meanwhile, some people would just paint their statues white, even if they weren't from white material in the first place.

Peace and Cold Calculation!

Yours,

Manol
