Urban Life - Monomad Challenge.
In a way, using my phone to take photos reignited my love for street photography. Since I was more aware of capturing moments, I started noticing more scenes everywhere. But it's definitely not the same as using a professional camera. The images from a camera are more true to life, and that's exactly what I was missing. So, I grabbed my camera Canon RP and headed out to capture the urban life.
I'll be using the photos in this publication as an entry for the #Monomad Challenge.
By definition, something urban is everything related to a city. So, I focused on just that: people, transportation, shops, and everyday life.
In this next photo, you can see a lot going on at once: a house that's been turned into a grocery store, two people shopping, public transportation, and a ladder.
De cierta manera el tomar fotos con el telefono me re avivó el amor por la fotografia callejera, como estaba mas pendiente de tomar fotos empecé a ver mas escenas en todos lados pero definitivamente no es lo mismo que hacerlo con una camara profesional, la imagen que obtenemos de una camara es mas fiel a la vida real y justamente eso era lo que estaba extrañando, asi que salí nuevamente con mi camara Canon RP a fotografiar la vida urbana.

Por definicion algo urbano es todo lo relacionado a una ciudad o lo que pertecene a ella asi que me enfoqué en eso, sus personas, su transporte, sus tiendas, su vida.
En la siguiente fotografia podemos ver muchas cosas al mismo tiempo: Una casa que se convirtió en una tienda de viveres, dos personas comprando, transporte publico y una escalera.
The ladder was there because someone was working on the roof. There was definitely a lot happening in that spot.
La escalera estaba allí porque había una persona trabajando en el techo, definitivamente habían muchas cosas pasando al mismo tiempo en ese lugar.
Speaking of workers, I took the next two photos of two guys working. Even though they were both working in the same place, each photo tells a different story.
This first photo shows the overall context:
Hablando de trabajadores, tomé esta fotos de dos trabajadores y aunque los dos estaban trabajado en el mismo lugar, cada foto puede contar una historia diferente.
La primera foto plasma el contexto general:
But this one is my favorite. I love the textures in this shot. The more you look, the more tools you discover.
Pero esta foto es mi favorita, me gustan las texturas de la foto y mientras mas la observas mas herramientas de trabajo de la persona descubres.
I took the next photo because I liked the repeating pattern of the shadow on the building:
La siguiente fotografía la tomé porque me gustó la sombra con patrón repetitivo que se plasmaba en el edificio:
n Venezuela, because of the hot weather, it's common to see people hanging clothes out of their windows:
En Venezuela, como tenemos un clima caluroso, es muy comun ver a personas colgando ropa en las ventanas:
Churches are always iconic. Each one has unique features. This one is known as the "Angel Church" for obvious reasons:
Algo muy iconico dentro de cualquier organismo son las iglesias, cada una tiene caracteristicas diferentes que las hacen especiales, como por ejemplo esta conocida como la iglesia "De el Angel" por obvias razones:
After photographing that church, I went to another one nearby that I really like because of its urban style. When I got there, I took this photo:
Despues de fotografiar esa iglesia se me ocurrió ir a otra iglesia que está muy cerca pues me gusta muchisimo el estilo urbano que tiene y al llegar tomé esta foto:
And I saw two homeless people sleeping under the church's roof. I wanted to photograph them because the way they were covered made them look lifeless, but they were just asleep.
Y pude ver que habian dos personas sin hogar durmiendo bajo el techo de la iglesia y quise fotografiarlos porque de la manera en como estaban tapados parecian como dos cuerpos sin vida pero simplemente estaban dormidos.
Then I went to one of the city's main squares, a popular meeting spot. To my surprise, it was almost empty, and I saw another homeless sleeping on one of the benches:
Luego me fui a una de las principales plazas de la ciudad, un lugar de encuentro para muchas personas y para mi sorpresa estaba casi vacio y pude ver a otra persona durmiendo en una de las bancas:
Reflecting on the photos of the homeless people, I think I took them because it's not something we see very often in my city.
I kept walking and looking for new urban subjects to photograph. What's more urban than a typical kiosk?
Reflexionando sobre las fotos de los sin hogar, siento que las tomé porque es algo que no se ve muy frecuente en mi ciudad.
Segui caminando y buscando nuevos objetivos urbanos para fotografiar y que mas urbano que el tipico kiosco:
Or a taxi stand, Strangely, this one was empty. I don't know if they still work there.
O una parada de Taxis, que extrañamente estaba vacia, desconosco si aun siguen trabajando en ese lugar.

I saw these payphones and wanted to take a photo using leading lines. Unfortunately, none of them work.
Pude ver estos telefonos publicos y quise hacerle una fotografias utilizando las lineas guias como metodo de composicion, lastimosamente ninguno de los telefonos sirve.
Finally, here's a photo of two people walking. What I love most about this city is the combination of urban and natural elements. Wherever I look, I can always find trees and mountains. It's a beautiful city.
Y para finalizar les dejo esta fotografia de dos personas caminando y lo que mas me gusta de esta ciudad es la combinacion que tenemos de urbanismo con naturaleza, por donde vea siempre puedo encontrar arboles y montañas, es una ciudad hermosa.
