Team penning - Monomad Challenge.

Today I am back with a new set of photographs of the fair in my city, on this occasion I went to the national team penning competition, an activity that among many others takes place at the fair.

Hoy estoy de vuelta con un nuevo set de fotografias de la feria de mi ciudad, en esta ocasion fuí a la competencia nacional de team penning, actividad que entre otras muchas se desarrolla en la feria.

For those who do not know what this competition is about (I did not know it) basically a team of three riders must organize and lock up 3 cows of the same number (said by the judge at random) in a pen in less than 45 seconds and the team that does it in less time wins.

Para quienes no sepan de que se trata esta competencia (yo no lo sabia) basicamente un equipo de tres jinetes debe organizarse y encerrar a 3 vacas del mismo numero (dicho por el juez al azar) en un corral en menos de 45 segundos y gana el equipo que lo haga en menos tiempo.

That was the most basic explanation possible but obviously within that sport there are thousands of strategies and plays to be more efficient.

For my part I was watching from the bleachers and taking photographs with a zoom lens.

Esa fue la explicacion mas basica posible pero obviamente dentro de ese deporte hay miles de estrategias y "jugadas" para ser mas eficientes.

Yo por mi parte estuve observando desde las gradas y haciendo fotografias con un lente de zoom.

It is worth noting that all these people have many years riding horses and at this point they are practically an extension of their own body.

Vale la pena destacar que todas estas personas tienen muchos años montando a caballo y en este punto practicamente son una extension de su propio cuerpo.

Reflecting I realized that in comparison to other sports this one is very difficult since animals in general tend to be unpredictable and here you are dealing with two at the same time and any type of anticipation sometimes can result in something totally different.

Reflexionando, me dí cuenta de que, en comparacion a otros deportes, este es muy difícil ya que los animales en general suelen ser impredecibles y aquí estas lidiando con dos al mismo tiempo y cualquier tipo de "anticipación" aveces puede resultar en algo totalmente diferente.

The truth was quite interesting to watch and I enjoyed it a lot plus I was able to take some very good photos!

Ahhh and another thing I found it very curious that there is a rule that says that all riders must wear a hat and if it falls off they have a score penalty!

La verdad fue bastante interesante de ver y lo disfruté mucho, ademas de que pude hacer unas fotos muy buenas!!

Ahhh y otra cosa, me pareció muy curioso que existe una regla que dice que todos los jinetes deben llevar sombrero y si se les cae tienen una penalizacion de puntaje!!
