Studio portraits with urban style
Today I want to share a set of portrait photographs that I took in my studio for a girl who was about to have her birthday, so these photos are part of her birthday photos. The reason I wanted to share these photos in color is that the girl has beautiful orange/copper hair that is spectacular.
This was the first photo I took of her while we were doing a light test and I kept it because it turned out very cool:
Hoy les quiero compartir un set de fotografias de retratos que hice en mi estudio para una chica que estaba pronto a cumplir años, asi que estas fotos hacen parte de sus fotos de cumpleaños. La razon por la que quise compartir estas fotos a color es que la chica tiene un hermoso cabello de color naranja/cobrizo que es espectacular.
Esta fue la primera foto que le tomé mientras haciamos una prueba de luz y la conservé porque quedó muy cool:
The idea for these photos was for them to be quite urban and to achieve that the girl brought a bandana and glasses. We tried different poses to have variety in the photos:
La idea para estas fotos es que fueran bastante urbanas y para lograr eso la chica llevó una pañoleta y unos lentes, probamos diferentes poses para tener variedad en las fotos:
To take all these photos I used my CANON R8 camera with a 50mm lens at f/2.8 and for the lighting I used two lights; a speed lite flash with a 50 cm softbox as the main light at 45 degrees in front of the model, and for the secondary light I used an LED light panel behind the model to create a nice rim light.
Para tomar todas estas fotos utilicé mi camara CANON R8 con un lente 50mm a 2.8/f y para la iluminacion utilicé dos luces; un flash speed lite con un softbox de 50 cm como luz principal a 45 grados frente a la modelo y para la luz secundaria utilicé un panel de luz led detras de la modelo para crear una bonita luz de recorte.
Then the girl took off the bandana and we explored different poses just with the glasses:
Luego la chica se quitó la pañoleta y exploramos diferentes poses solo con los lentes:
I was guiding her with the poses since the girl wasn't a model and had no experience in previous photo sessions, but she was photogenic and very confident in front of the camera!
Then I told her let's do a photo where she played with her hair, the result was super cool, this is my favorite:
Yo la estuve guiando con las poses ya que la chica no era modelo ni tenia experiencia en previas sesiones de fotos, pero si que era fotogenica y tenia muchisima confianza frente a la camara!
Luego le dije que hiciéramos una foto donde ella jugara con su pelo, el resultado quedó super cool, esta es mi favorita:
She wanted a photo from behind so we took this one
Ella quería una fotos de espaldas así que hicimos esta:
The theme of the photos was urban, so we couldn't miss some crouching photos. These turned out super cool and are my 2nd and 3rd favorite photos!
La tematica de las fotos era urbana asi que no podian faltar unas fotos agachadas, estas quedaron super cool y son mi 2da y 3era fotos favoritas!
In the end, both the girl and I were super happy with the results of this photo session. I hope you like them as much as we do!

excellent use of the 2 lights- I have so far only used 1 light in my studio set ups and this makes me want to get a second light. That rim light in the back really makes the subject pop excellent photos. Thanks for sharing gear and tools 🙏
