Street photography from Venezuela - Monomad Challenge.
Today, I want to share a new set of street photographs, in which I seek to show you a little more of the day to day life of what it's like to live in a Venezuelan city like mine.
I will start by showing you these photographs that address the topic of gasoline. Many of you may have read in the news that Venezuela has a bit of a scarcity regarding this resource, and the truth is that sometimes we have queues to fill up, and sometimes we don't. It's quite uncertain, but it is still obtained, either by waiting in long lines at service stations or by buying liters from resellers in the city.
Having explained that, these photographs now have context. It is very common to see people siphoning gasoline from their cars to store or sell it:
Hoy estoy de vuelta con un nuevo set de fotografias callejeras, en las que busco mostrarles un poco mas del dia a dia de como es vivir en una ciudad de venezuela como la mia.
Empezaré por mostrarles estas fotos que tocan el tema de la gasolina, muchos han podido leer en noticias que venezuela tiene un poco de escases en cuanto a este recurso y la verdad es que aveces tenemos cola para surtir y aveces no, es bastante incierto pero aun asi se consigue,sea haciendo largas colas en las estaciones de servicio o comprando litros a revendedores en la ciudad.
Habiendo explicado eso, estas fotos ya tienen su contexto, es muy comun ver a personas sacando gasolina de sus carros para guardarla o venderla.
It is also very common to see people on the roads with a soda bottle, and what that means is that they are selling gasoline:
Tambien es muy comun ver en las carreteras personas con un pote de refresco y lo que significa es que venden gasolina:
The next photography is of a taxi driver who bought gasoline from a reseller:
La siguiente foto es de un taxista que compró gasolina a un revendedor
The next photography is of a woman who sells gasoline as a method of subsistence, the photography is more impactful due to the fact that she is with her two daughters:
La siguiente foto es de una mujer que vende gasolina como metodo de subsistir, la foto es mas impactante por el hecho de estar con sus dos hijas.
Something else that is very common to see in my city are the street vendors. They can sell anything as long as they can bring some money home.
The next photography is of a man selling buckets:
Algo que tambien es muy comun de ver en mi ciudad son los vendedores ambulantes, ellos pueden vender cualquier cosa con tal de traer un poco de dinero a sus hogares.
La siguiente foto es de un hombre que vendia cubetas:
Or this man who sells ice cream. This job is difficult because in my city we have very steep hills, and the man must push the cart all over the city:
O este señor que vende helados, este trabajo es dificil por que en mi ciudad tenemos pendientes muy empinadas y el señor debe empujar el carro por toda la ciudad:
The next photography is of a man selling coffee and tea throughout the city:
La siguiente foto es de un hombre que vende café y té por toda la ciudad:
The next photography is of a slightly more elaborate, but surprisingly clever, entrepreneurial effort, a man adapted a motorcycle to pull a small cart in which he sells fruits and vegetables throughout the city:
La siguiente foto es de un emprendimiento un poco mas elaborado pero sorprende por lo inteligente, un hombre adaptó una moto para arrastrar un carrito en el cual vende frutas y verduras por toda la ciudad:
And finally, two street photographs of two spontaneous moments, first, a woman sitting on the sidewalk talking to another person:
Y por ultimo, dos fotografias callejeras de dos momentos espontaneos, primero una señora sentada en las aceras hablando con otra persona:
And a motorcyclist who was using his bike to carry things. I saw how they fell to the ground, and another man approached to help him tie down his load, so I approached to take this photography:
Y un motorizado que usaba su moto para cargar cosas, ví como se le cayeron al suelo y otro hombre se acercó a ayudarlo a amarrar su carga asi que me acerqué a hacer esta foto:

Hola amigo! Me encantó tu post, es tan real. Lastimosamente estamos viviendo así ... Venezuela y Cuba parecieran más que hermanas. Acá en Cuba, lo raro es ver gasolina en un CUPET ( la empresa de combustible) es más fácil conseguirla a través de revendedores. Actualmente se consigue a unos 600 pesos cubanos el litro lo que viene siendo alrededor de 1.27 dólares americanos, teniendo en cuenta que el salario mínimo de un cubano no llega a los 10 dólares al mes... podríamos concluir que esto está 😂 para sobrevivir como magos. No te cuento nada nuevo, allá sé que se ven cosas parecidas. Un abrazo, espero seguir leyéndote.
