Grandma's Christmas flowers [My Weekend Expirience]

Today I'd like to share an experience I had this past weekend at my grandmother's house, but first, I'll give you a little background so you can understand. My grandmother has been gone since 1997, many years ago now, but when she was alive, she used to take care of her beloved plants. She watered them with love, fertilized them, and even talked to them because she said the human voice made them grow healthier—something that's even been scientifically proven. But one plant she was especially fond of was her poinsettia, which, of course, bloomed during this time of year. That plant still exists at my grandmother's house because my uncles have taken care of it, and it blooms every year. However, this year it hadn't bloomed, which surprised us. We sadly thought that perhaps it had finally reached the end of its life cycle.

This past weekend, my sister, my mom, and I went to my grandmother's house to help my uncles make hallacas, a traditional Venezuelan Christmas dish. It's a lot of work, so it requires the help of several family members, each with a specific role. At first, I was in charge of preparing the patio, setting up the fire for the pot where we would cook the hallacas. Then I stumbled upon something wonderful as I was reminiscing about my childhood and my beloved grandmother, remembering the times she would walk around the patio looking for the perfect spot for the fire, or when she would clean the plantain leaves to make the hallacas. I walked to a specific spot in the patio to gather some firewood, and then I noticed something red out of the corner of my eye. I was a little blinded by the bright sunlight, but when I looked up, I saw my grandmother's precious flowers. They were there 😃 they hadn't gone extinct, they just took longer to appear this year, so I couldn't help but immortalize the moment with a photograph.

These flowers are not just flowers; they are a symbol of Christmas, as their name indicates, a representation of the hope we should never lose, of God's love that accompanies us and that we remember so much at this time of year. But also, for our family in particular, they are a reminder that Grandma is still with us in some way, through memories, for example, and in those flowers that evoke her with so much affection.

For me, it was a very beautiful and surprising experience, even though it might seem simple to you. This weekend I went alone to help my family with a family tradition, but in addition to that, I had the pleasant surprise of seeing this beautiful plant bloom, which renewed my hopes and filled me with enthusiasm to start next year with even more energy.

Thank you so much for your attention, friends. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a weekend full of beautiful experiences. I wish you good health and blessings for the rest of the year and, of course, for next year as well. May it bring you much success both inside and outside of Hive 😉
