Her name is Cotica, and she's a parrot, a very popular bird in Cuba. Cotica is the mascot of the business where I recently started working. As is often the case, this species adapts very easily to living with humans; they "domesticate" each other, becoming domestic birds and excellent companions.

I think their popularity stems from the joy they bring to our environment and their characteristic social and linguistic abilities. In addition, their green plumage, with hints of yellow, red, and white, gives them a beautiful appearance that certainly delights the eye.

While trying to find a photo op for one of my friend @nelinoeva's initiatives, I wanted to photograph Cotica, but I caught her showing signs of embarrassment. This behavior is particularly odd for her; she's very friendly and quite talkative. But in front of the camera, she seems to blush.

The session didn't turn out what I expected. Every time I tried to capture her elegant and festive image, the parakeet bowed her head in embarrassment. If I moved the camera away or hid it, she returned to her usual state. I felt sympathy for this, but I didn't want to prolong the play so as not to stress her out too much. These friends also deserve our care, and limiting their play is one of the ways we ensure their well-being. However, I managed to capture these images that I'm showing you today, which I think are equally beautiful.

Para nadie es un secreto que amo a las aves, especialmente a los gorriones. En casi toda mi producción artística estas amigas aladas están presentes, de una u otra forma. Son símbolos muy socorridos que me identifican, por así decirlo.

En esta ocasión no hablaré de mis gorriones sino de una criatura especial. Su nombre es Cotica y es una cotorra, ave muy popular en tierras cubanas.

Cotica es la mascota del negocio en donde hace poco tiempo empecé a trabajar. Como suele suceder, estespecie se adapta muy fácilmente a convivir con los humanos, se "acaseran" llegando a convertirse en aves domésticas y en excelentes compañeras.

Creo que su popularidad radica en esa suerte de alegría que imponen en nuestro entorno y en la habilidad social y del lenguaje que las caracteriza. Además, su plumaje verde, con notas de amarillo, rojo y blanco le dota de un aspecto precioso que ciertamente alegra la mirada.

Tratando de encontrar un motivo fotográfico para una de las iniciativas de la amiga @nelinoeva quise fotografiar a Cotica, pero, me sorprendió mostrando signos de vergüenza. Es algo particularmente curioso este comportamiento en ella, es muy amistosa y bastante conversadora. Pero ante la camara parece "ruborizarse".

La sesión no resultó lo que esperaba. Cada vez que hice el intento de capturar su imagen elegante y festiva, la cotorra inclinaba la cabeza en señal de vergüenza. Si alejaba o escondía la cámara volvía a su estado habitual. Ello me producía simpatía pero no quise prolongar el juego para no estresarla demasiado. Estas amigas también merecen de nuestro cuidado y saber limitar el juego es una de las maneras en las que les garantizamos bienestar. No obstante conseguí estas imágenes que hoy les muestro, creo que igualmente hermosas.
