A matter of perspective: Cuban frog/Cuestión de perspectiva:Ranita Cubana- PhotoFeed Contest round 122 [ENG-ESP]
He said: -Look!- And in his little hands she brought life. His interest in experiencing nature moves her to investigate, search, observe and touch her surroundings at all times.
A few weeks ago it rains in the afternoons as a certainty of a summer that is imposing itself before the solstice, it is an ideal event for the proliferation of creatures that love humid environments. Some spiders, salamanders and frogs are among those that take advantage of these times of puddles. Such is the case of this creature brought to me as a curious treasure discovered in a corner of the patio.
-That's a Cuban Frog," I tried to contribute some information to complement his discovery.
The Cuban frog is an endemic species of our country- I continued- It has the same characteristics of any batrachian but its particularity lies in its very small size. This “dwarf” figurine barely reaches 2.5 cm.
Between the little hands it seemed much bigger, but when we released it, we found it to be a very tiny creature.
-But it looks bigger up close," observed the little guy.
-I'm glad you noticed. It's all a matter of perspective and this is a good example of that.
As part of the study process, I took these pictures, also in order to keep the memory of the adventure and of the luck of having a natural jewel like this in my hands, something very difficult given its necessary freedom.
-This little frog is a friendly little frog," he then said and, opening his little hands, let it jump into the puddles. My little nephew's eyes followed her, full of gratitude and that sparkle that usually appears when we learn something new.

Dijo:—¡Mira!— Y entre sus pequeñas manitas traía la vida. Su interés por experimentar la naturaleza le mueve a investigar, buscar, observar, tocar su entorno en todo momento.
Hace unas semanas llueve en las tardes como certeza de un verano que se impone desde antes del solsticio, es un suceso ideal para que proliferen criaturas amantes de ambientes húmedos. Algunas arañas, salamandras y ranas son de las que más aprovechan estos tiempos de charcos. Es el caso de esta criatura que me trajo como curioso tesoro descubierto en una esquina del patio.
—Esa es una Ranita Cubana— traté de aportar algún dato que complementara información a su descubrimiento.
— La Ranita Cubana es una especie endémica de nuestro país— continué— Posee las mismas características de cualquier batracio pero su particularidad radica en su pequeñísimo tamaño. Esta figurilla "enana" alcanza apenas los 2.5 cm.
Entre las manitas parecía mucho más grande pero al liberarla comprobamos que es una muy diminuta criatura.
—Pero, parece más grande así de cerca— observó el pequeño.
— Me alegra que lo notes. Todo es cuestión de perspectiva y este es un buen ejemplo de ello.
Como parte del proceso de estudio, tomé estás fotografías, también con el fin de guardar el recuerdo de la aventura y de la suerte de tener entre las manos una joya natural como esta, cosa bien difícil dada su necesaria libertad.
—Esta ranita es una Ranita amistosa—dijo entonces y, abriendo sus manitas, la dejó saltar hacia los charcos. Los ojos de mi pequeño sobrino la seguían llenos de gratitud y ese brillo que suele aparecer cuando aprendemos algo nuevo.
Espero que estas fotografías de la aventura de mi sobrino con una pequeña ranita resulte de su agrado.
