How to traditionally celebrate New Year's Eve with our office friends

How are you guys? I hope that all of you have reached the year 2024 very happily. December is a month that Christians all over the world wait for a whole year. Because the birthday of Jesus Christ is coming. So last December 25th, I was able to see how all the Christian citizens celebrated Christmas well. After Christmas came the New Year which is celebrated very happily by all the citizens of the world. By midnight on December 31st, January 1st dawned and we all reached a brand new year.*

New Year's Day, January 1, was a Sunday, so we had to go to work. There are several rituals that we should traditionally do before starting work. The first day of a new year is supposed to be auspicious as our citizens think. Therefore, we must prepare the necessary arrangements for it. Our manager prepared a breakfast table as we were informed in advance. According to the Sri Lankan tradition, milk rice is an essential food that is prepared for the food tables of special festivals since the past. Therefore, I placed an order for it last Saturday to receive it on Monday morning. Accordingly, on our dining table, we got to see milk rice prepared from rice and sambal prepared from chillies and onions more and more.

In addition, bananas are a must-have food for our traditional festivals. You can't see a table without ripe yellow bananas. We also ordered icing cakes, marshmallows, talakareli, biscuits and soft drinks for the dining table at our workplace. This traditional dining table was set aside for everyone, including the employees working under us, the transport drivers, and the customers.

The traditional oil lamp should be lit before releasing the goods to the customers. For that, we had to wait for the special guest we invited to arrive. The owners of Pasan building suppliers, who buy a large amount of goods from our company's branch, came and ritually lit the oil lamp. Then the store executive, myself and the sales promotion officers lit the oil lamp.

In this way, after lighting the oil lamp, it was time to get food including milk rice. First the invited guests got their food and then the employees and drivers got their food. Finally the food was taken by us office workers. Milk rice and chili sambal were eaten more because of their superior taste.

After that, the owner of Pasan Building Suppliers, who is the invited customer, gave money with a purchase order and bought the goods. Accordingly, after I processed the relevant invoice through the ERP system and gave it to the security officer, the workers carried out the loading of the goods.

Then it is time for us to distribute the calendars to our employees. We, the two office officials, quickly distributed calendars to our employees to prepare for the rest of the work. In this way, our first day of January rituals were done. So my best wishes for a happy, peaceful and prosperous new year.
