Hello HIVE, Cat here. I'm a newbie to Web3 but I am excited to be doing something different and to be a part of this cutting edge technology community. One of the many reasons I decided to join is to improve my writing skills, something I've always enjoyed doing and also to exercise blogging which is something that I have always have wanted to do. I also want to experience the internet from a divergent angle. I'd like to know more about the internet, digital security and digital sovereignty.

ES Hola HIVE, Cat aquí. Soy una novata en Web3 pero estoy emocionada de estar haciendo algo diferente y de formar parte de esta comunidad tecnológica de vanguardia. Una de las muchas razones por las que decidí unirme es para mejorar mis habilidades de escritura, algo que siempre he disfrutado y también para ejercitar el blogging que es algo que siempre he querido hacer. También quiero experimentar Internet desde un ángulo divergente. Me gustaría saber más sobre internet, la seguridad y soberanía digital.

So, who am I? I'm an American woman, because I hail from the American continent. Yup, America is a continent, not a country 😎. Below I leave a song that speaks about it and which tails of from Childish Gambino's, "This is America". Both songs and artists, noteworthy by the way.

I am proud to say I'm Indigenous, of the K'iche' people which are on of the many nations that make up what is most commonly know as the Maya people. Probably, you've heard about: The Maya civilization, Mayan architecture, the Mayan calendar/s, hieroglyphs, cacao aka chocolate, corn and so on. We continue to exist and thrive in what is now known as the Mesoamerica region. You can find Maya people in southern Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador and Honduras. I live in Guatemala, the land of eternal spring also the land of eternal (ahem) corruption. But I will leave this topic for a future post. Guatemala certainly has a millennial and very rich culture, we have very good weather, hence we are know for our "eternal spring." It is a pluricultural and multilingual country, where different nations and peoples live, 24 different languages are spoken, it has 360 micro climates as well as 32 volcanoes of which 4 are active. A country small in size but big on energy. I cannot stop myself from thinking how alike I am to the land I was born into.

Me enorgullece decir que soy Indígena, del pueblo K'iche', que es una de las muchas naciones que conforman lo que más comúnmente se conoce como el pueblo Maya. Probablemente, han oído hablar de: La civilización Maya, la arquitectura Maya, el calendario Maya, los jeroglíficos, el cacao (también conocido como chocolate), el maíz, etcétera. Las personas Mayas seguimos existiendo y prosperando en lo que ahora se conoce como la región de Mesoamérica. Los Mayas viven en el sur de México, Guatemala, Belice, El Salvador y Honduras. Yo vivo en Guatemala, la tierra de la eterna primavera también la tierra de la eterna (ejem) corrupción. Pero dejaré este tema para un próximo post. Guatemala ciertamente tiene una cultura milenaria y muy rica, tenemos muy buen clima, de ahí que se nos conoce por la "eterna primavera". Es un país pluricultural y multilingüe, donde viven diferentes naciones y pueblos, se hablan 24 idiomas diferentes, tiene 360 microclimas así como 32 volcanes de los cuales 4 están activos. Un país pequeño en tamaño pero grande en energía. No puedo dejar de pensar en lo mucho que me parezco a la tierra en la que nací.

Guatemala's geographical division is into 22 "departamentos" that are equivalent to states or provinces. I was born in Totonicapán department which is in the southwest nearby to the border with Mexico. I studied in the neighboring department of Quetzaltenango, also known as Xela. Later I migrated to Guatemala City, where I studied film and plunged myself into the Hip-Hop world, particularly rap. For the last years of my life I've been leading experiential education programs. Some of the places I've gotten to know through my work, are: Guatemala, Bolivia, Belize Costa Rica & Peru. Each place with its own beauty, sorrows, stories, joy, resilience, questions and ideas.

I also work as an interpreter from English into Spanish and vice versa, I've worked in film and TV, and in non profit orgs. My work is with teenagers, university students, professionals from various scopes, people diverse nationalities and all walks of life.

La división geográfica de Guatemala es en 22 "departamentos" que equivalen a estados o provincias. Yo nací en el departamento de Totonicapán, que está en el suroeste, cerca de la frontera con México. Estudié en el vecino departamento de Quetzaltenango, también conocido como Xela. Más tarde emigré a Ciudad de Guatemala, donde estudié cine y me sumergí en el mundo del Hip-Hop, sobre todo del rap. Durante los últimos años de mi vida he dirigido programas de educación experiencial. Algunos de los lugares que he conocido a través de mi trabajo, son: Guatemala, Bolivia, Belice Costa Rica y Perú. Cada lugar con su propia belleza, penas, historias, alegrías, resiliencia, preguntas e ideas.También trabajo como intérprete de inglés a español y viceversa, he trabajado en cine y televisión, y en organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro. Mi trabajo es con adolescentes, estudiantes universitarios, profesionales de diversos ámbitos, personas de diversas nacionalidades y de todos los ámbitos de la vida.

Look forward to many pictures on my blogs 😊. On here I will be sharing about my travels and work, food, geography and cultural information or facts of Guatemala and other places I go to. There will also be news sharing about relevant events going on in the country. Furthermore, I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity of being a cultural ambassador of Maya culture on this platform. So anticipate may blogs about this extraordinary nation. You can also hope for lots of art, such as: photography, film, music, poetry, textiles and more. From time to time I also want to share about my everyday life and practice some journaling. I am open to receive knowledge and create community and think that spaces where people can come together and learn about and from each other are extremely valuable.

Esperen muchas fotos en mis blogs 🙃. Aquí voy a compartir acerca de los viajes y el trabajo, la comida, la geografía y la información cultural o datos de Guatemala y otros lugares a los que voy. También compartiré noticias sobre eventos relevantes que sucedan en el país. Además, me siento muy afortunada de tener la oportunidad de ser embajadora cultural de la cultura Maya en esta plataforma. Así que pueden anticipar varios blogs sobre esta extraordinaria nación. También pueden esperar mucho arte: fotografía, cine, música, poesía, textiles y mucho más. De vez en cuando también quiero compartir mi vida cotidiana y escribir un diario.
