I accidentally published not finished and even without any photos blog about beautiful Yvoire, I still want to show you how beautiful this village is in Savoy, France.

Today I want to share with you again the memories of a bus trip to Savoy and the places we visited there. Yvoire village - a beautiful jewel situated in the heart of France. Savoy attracted us with its beautiful landscapes, the old and rich history of this region and, of course, culinary delights. Walking the paths of Savoy, I felt like it was a part of who I am.

Before going to Savoy, I read it is unlike any other region in France - it's breathtakingly beautiful. I am not saying that other regions are not beautiful. My ties with Provence are strong too. They are both a charming corner of France. Just one is located in the French Alps, and another is on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.

Savoy fits every soul of a traveler. No matter if you are a gourmand who is eager to try the very authentic flavors of Alpine cuisine, or you are a history enthusiast, or you are a traveler who seeks adventures full of adrenaline, the cities and villages of Savoy offer you a whole myriad of new experiences.

The charming village of Yvoire is a true gem in my eyes, a place that remains enchanting at any time of year. When the sun shines, Yvoire stands out in bursts of color. The waters of the lake reflect the azure hues of the sky, and the village alleys, lined with traditional stone and wooden houses, look straight out of a postcard.

The village of Yvoire is picturesquely located on the very shore of Lake Geneva and is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful villages in France. Yvoire's stone houses and narrow streets lined with wisteria and geraniums are already two reasons for earning the title of "pearl of Lake Geneva".

It used to be a fishing port, guarded by a square citadel, preserved from the medieval era. In 2006, Yvoire celebrated its 700th anniversary. The village is very small. You can get there by car and, as far as I understand, by cruise ship.

You can enter the village through the ancient Geneva Gate or Thonon Gate. This is what little remains of the fortress wall built in the 14th century, when Yvoire from a fishing village acquired the status of a fortified town with its fortress.

Yvoire greeted us with charming narrow medieval streets and small stone houses, all dressed in floral attire.

Almost all the houses have cute souvenir shops, boutiques or cafes on the ground floor. In one of them, we happily drank coffee and caught our breath a little from the impressions that had fallen on us: just a couple of hours ago, we were in the 21st century, and now we were in the Middle Ages. In another pastry shop, we chose a couple of scoops of homemade ice cream and the whole group wandered through the quiet streets. On an early weekday morning, there weren't that many tourists.

At the end of the street, we can see the Church of Saint Pancras, one of the oldest buildings dating back to the 11th century. Of course, it was rebuilt many times and the tower with a dome received its current appearance in the 19th century. We went inside to look at its interior.

All the streets of Yvoire run down to Lake Geneva.

The main attraction of the village rises above the lake - the Yvoire Castle, built by the Duke of Savoy in 1306.

The castle is built on a ledge above Lake Geneva and majestically rises above the village. It is a very harmonious and beautiful structure. We admired its simple and correct forms, its power and its inaccessibility.

Unfortunately, Yvoire Castle is closed to tourists. And we could only admire it from the outside.

Near the castle, behind a stone fence, there is a "Garden of the Five Senses", famous for its labyrinth. But we did not get there, as we were limited in time and could not wait. I hope this will be another reason to visit Yvoire again.

While we were standing on the shore and enjoying the views of Lake Geneva, a funny classic scene of a cat meeting a dog happened next to us, but we didn't have time to watch this lively spectacle. We went to wander a little through the ancient streets full of flowers and colors.

We spent two unforgettable hours in Yvoire. Enjoyed its peace and comfort. Immersed ourselves in the leisurely rhythm of a charming medieval village.

Strolling along the cobbled streets sheltered by centuries-old trees, and settling down in a local café to enjoy a cup of coffee by the lake, became an unforgettable experience.

Over the years, the nature surrounding Yvoire loses none of its grandeur. Everything blooms around every corner, but at the same time, recalling the raw power and untamed beauty.

But it was time for us to get ready for the journey. The next point of our route was waiting for us - the city of Annecy. If you are in those parts of the Haute-Savoie department, I highly recommend you set aside a couple of hours to visit this amazing place. Delight, a sea of positive emotions and unforgettable impressions are guaranteed. Yvoire truly captivated us with its authenticity and timeless character.

Gatvės gale išvydome Šventojo Pankrato bažnyčią - vieną seniausių XI a. pastatų. Žinoma, ji ne kartą buvo perstatyta, o bokštas su kupolu dabartinę išvaizdą įgavo XIX a. Įėjome į vidų apžiūrėti jos interjero.

Visos Yvoire gatvės nusidriekia iki pat Ženevos ežero.

Virš ežero stūkso pagrindinė kaimo įžymybė - Yvoire pilis, kurią 1306 m. pastatė Savojos kunigaikštis.

Pilis pastatyta ant iškyšulio virš Ženevos ežero ir didingai stūkso virš kaimo. Tai labai harmoningas ir gražus statinys. Žavėjomės jos paprastomis ir taisyklingomis formomis, galingumu ir neprieinamumu.

Deja, Yvoire pilis yra uždaryta turistams. Ir mes galėjome ja grožėtis tik iš išorės.

Netoli pilies, už akmeninės tvoros, yra „Penkių pojūčių sodas“, garsėjantis savo labirintu. Tačiau mes ten nepatekome, nes turėjome nedaug laiko ir negalėjome laukti. Tikiuosi, kad tai bus dar viena priežastis vėl apsilankyti Yvoire.

Pasivaikščiojimas grįstomis gatvelėmis, kurias saugojo šimtamečiai medžiai, ir įsitaisymas vietinėje kavinėje prie ežero išgerti puodelį kavos mums tapo nepamirštama patirtimi.

Bėgant metams Yvoire supanti gamta nepraranda savo didingumo. Viskas žydi už kiekvieno kampo, bet kartu primena apie laukinę jėgą ir nesutramdomą grožį.

Tačiau mums atėjo laikas ruoštis kelionei. Mūsų laukė kitas mūsų maršruto taškas - Annecy miestas. Jei esate tose Aukštutinės Savojos departamento vietose, labai rekomenduoju skirti porą valandų ir aplankyti šią nuostabią vietą. Malonumas, teigiamų emocijų jūra ir nepamirštami įspūdžiai garantuoti. O mus Yvoire tikrai sužavėjo savo autentiškumu ir laikui nepavaldžiu charakteriu.
