Lake Aiguebelette hardly sounds among its brothers and neighbors - Leman, Annecy and Bourges. The main tourist flow settles there, photos from there are put on screens and in stories. Everyone knows Annecy, and almost no one knows Aiguebelette.

The lake is located in the most mountainous region of France (Rhône-Alpes region), in the Savoie department. A bright blue-green color, with seven hot springs, the lake is considered one of the warmest in France. In the southern part of the lake there are two small islands.

There are a lot of lakes in this department, as many as 8000, and one of them is Lake Aiguebelette, which is located near a small settlement that bears the same name as Aiguebelette Le Lac. This settlement is very small, its population is only 300 residents, but it is a very picturesque nature and beautiful places.

On the way to the lake, I took some beautiful views of the Alps.

We stopped by the lake for a short while on our way from one town to another in Savoy. The weather was hot and everyone wanted to take a dip. Lake Aiguebelette is a natural lake located 373 meters above sea level and covers an area of ​​54.5 square meters. The depth of the lake is 71 meters.

All the time while we were there, we enjoyed this miracle of nature. Magnificent, isn't it? The lake is protected on both sides by the Alpine mountains.

The sky was clear and the weather was warm when we arrived, but after a while, the sky became covered with some clouds. The mountains disappeared at this time, so the view became sadder, but it was still beautiful.

The water in the lake is some kind of turquoise. No one could take the eyes off this beauty. You can admire it too. Lake Aiguebelette is one of the cleanest lakes in France. Look how crystal clear the water is.

Decorated with two small surviving islands, it is one of the warmest lakes in France with temperatures reaching 28° in summer!

There are equipped beaches on the lake, but of course they are paid. The price ranges from 2.5 to 7 euros on weekends, while on weekdays it is a little cheaper.

Some of our group didn't want to pay, because we only had time to just swim. So, ones of our group paid the lowest price, others simply found a place where they could do it for free. There were a lot of people on the beach.

What a pleasure to plunge into a clean lake on a hot summer's day (the air temperature was over 30 degrees). Here, where we swam, the lake was deep almost immediately. The upper layer of water was warm, and below you could feel the cold layer of water.

I will make a small digression, since it is important, and I will say that here in France and in many other countries, you can park your car both in a green area and on the side of the road. Surrounded by Alpine mountains, lush trees, peace and tranquility, this lake is such a wonderful to swim in.

We went to see a free swimming place too. We had to go down to the lake via a wooden staircase (obviously not made yesterday), but quite strong. It was in this place that the bottom was rocky, the big stones were slippery, and the small ones pricked your feet, so you had to dive quickly.

Lake Aiguebelette often hosts international rowing competitions, as there is a rowing base here. During the competition, the lake is laid out with competition lanes and special equipment, and at the end of the event, all of this is removed.

As I found out, coaches and athletes consider this place unsuccessful for holding high-level competitions. They say that there is little space here, both for boats on land and on the water. But nevertheless, the competitions took place and the results were received, and World Championships were held there too.

Just before leaving, I found a place closer, which was also intended for swimming. The bottom here was sandy, but the depth of the buoys was only 150 cm. But this is not very important. Although the sky became cloudy, I still could not resist and swam once again in the pearl of the Alpine mountains. This beach was located in the space of the base and was probably intended for swimming or recovery after a race or training of athletes.

I am very glad that fate brought me to this one of the most beautiful corners of our planet, and I was able to see an unearthly miracle on earth. And whoever happens to visit these picturesque places of our planet, be sure to visit this paradise and swim in the pearl of the Alpine mountains.
