New Challenge | Portrait
Though it's not necessarily my first time taking picture of person but it was my first time taking picture other than my family. My friend was willing to stand in heat and following what I said. She was pretty cooperative as well. I generally love her candid shots and that's why I tried to capture her candid expressions. Though during the process, I feel a little awkward since the object I mostly capture is inanimate and it's way easier to work with according to me ;).
From this experience, I learned that it's not easy taking pictures with a good composition, or maybe I am still new in all these. There are so many things to adjust from lighting, pose, and ensuring other people aren't in the frame. All these aren't easy and keeping the model in a good mood and enthusiastic aren't easy either. Though with my friend, I didn't really have that problem much except a few time she got tired with the same position and also getting distracted.
I took the shots pretty quickly and she moved the way she liked and I ended up with some good shots but also bad ones. sometimes my friend was also distracted haha just like this one picture below, Later she told me, there was a good looking guy passing by.
Or this one when she looked like she was tired with my sh*t 🤣
There are some corners that we tried around the temple. At the end of the day, I wished I was working more with her but it was a few days before I left Thailand.
This is also my favorite result from this photoshoot.
Some of my fails include these ones;
But all in all, my friend was pretty easy to work with and I learned some new things during that time. First, I might need a new glasses and eye-check up because half of my pictures are tilted and I think I have some problem with eye alignment. Second and at last, I shouldn't rush and take more time when telling the other person how to pose and taking time to capture their expression.

She's pretty! 😍
Yeah, it is hard to take nice photos specially when it is freaking hot and lots of people in the place. 🤣 But you got nice angles here, love it!
!PIZZA
😊 She is! it was that hot but thankfully, it was also breezy which you can see on the picture, her hair was all over the place 🤣
hehe she's cute. it's funny how she got distracted when there was a cute guy passing by. LOL
hahaha yeah, Wat arun is especially a studio-like temple with lots of cute guys passing by xD it's hard not to get distracted.
Lol, I wonder why I didn't see many cute guys when I went there. haha
Nice shots, and she did a good job modeling for you!
😁 thank you! I am glad it's well-received and definitely, thanks to her, she did a great job!
Hahaha... I need an eye check-up too, I think. And maybe my spine as well.
The photos are very nice and that colourful little corner suits your friend very well.
hahaha I just realized that when half of the results I have are tilted. It's not even straight and that's definitely a sign. Thanks! the colorful corner definitely complements her beauty 😊
Who can resist, right?
nice shots Cem, taking photos of people is not always easy.

Multiple that with 5 and you have an idea of filmmaking ;^)
I think your friend looks like a real model and there's some beautiful pictures. Love the backdrop too.
Perhaps you could try a natural backdrop with light and shadow next time? :^)
I can imagine, filmmaking is definitely tough! I watched a few behind the scenes and can already see it's not easy at all. It's team work but I feel like those behind the scenes are less appreciated than the actors/actresses. If I have to try anything more with her, it's gonna be another flight to Thailand, wouldn't mind for sure hehe and I hope to see her soon again, she makes a good model 😄. Next time I meet her, I need to have a better gear too hehe.
Objects are always much easier to photograph. You can wait for the lighting you want and they don't get distracted like you said! You got some nice shots though, well done!
😄 right? I am glad that it turned out pretty decent.
That is too funny, haha
I have never really tried to do a photo shoot with someone else like you kinda did. I'd have to take 100s of photos to get a few good ones.
Maybe it's time for a new challenge? It's fun but also pretty challenging.
The first one of your so-called fails is not actually a fail imo.
😄 I guess I've always been into perfection. I mean, I guess I could edit those people in the background with a bit photoshop.
You don't have to
That's a great idea to sharpen your skills with a willing participant. As you mentioned, different considerations are taken when photographing a moving subject is different than an inanimate object. These one turned out great and the setting is amazing.
😃 thank you! I am sure it's the setting and the model that make these pictures look great :D
Yes, setting and subject are important, but skill comes a lot into play. If you're anything like me, then you probably tortured this poor girl until you got it 'right'. Well done, grasshopper! 🤣
Forgot how much old I am... just with your post. 💓
😄
