Eastbound | Bosnik Beach & TETE Diving Point Biak Numfor

A Quick Escape to Clear Waters

By now, I've gathered plenty of stories to tell. Some of them are quite horror and some are really interesting. As I am sitting down right now, I don't really know where to begin but let's rewind to the moment we reached, Biak Numfor which in local language Numfor means island.

Once we unloaded our baggage at our homestay, we were all brimmed with excitement as it looked very beautiful from thousands above our feet. Our guide, Mr John, was planning to take us into his diving hut called Tete Point which in local language means Grandfather "point".

Checking Out Diving Point Tete

The location of this diving point is only 20 minutes from the main airport of the airport, Frank Kaisiepo. It’s only a straight drive to the area and from there, there are so many different landscapes that you can see. It’s such a treat especially if you have never seen this beautiful island living like I do.

Unfortunately, at the time, his diving hut was visited by a prominent military leader from the area. So, we had to check out the other parts of Tete Point called Bosnek/Bosnik Beach. But later in the following day we got a full experience of his diving hut and how it contributed to the locals’ and as a dropping point for the locals.

I gave a worldmappin sticker to this place....

From hivefest10 I brought a couple of @worldmappin stickers thanks to @ninaeatshere and interestingly, I brought 2 during my travels to Papua. One is given to this diving point and another is at a place called Nirmala Beach which I'll talk about it since that is an entire story of its own and I am more than happy to talk about such awesome experience and opportunity.

Also safe to say, I am here pinning quite a bit of point of interest in Papua and there are so many amazing places to check out here that hasn't been explored yet.

That one hour flight didn't really stop us from actually exploring the place. Since it was Sunday, it was an off day for a lot of us & going to the beach was a good reason.

The area where Tete point is located is known for its starting point for either snorkeling or diving. This place is maintained by Mr John and his family. While it looks like a humble hut, snorkeling through this point is such a treat if you love snorkel and diving.

Bosnik Beach

Since I didn’t bring any goggles with me, I was unable to enjoy the underwater view but I really had fun swimming around the diving point which was located just 3 minutes walk which included the area of“ Bosnik/Bosnek” beach where the water was turquoise and see through.

Look at how beautiful this place is!

Unfortunately, sometimes you spot some trash lying around in the area but overall, it’s pretty clean. It was still pretty unbelievable to me that the water was see through and very clean.

I’ve told Mr John that I’d find my way back to Biak as I wanted to try diving and contribute to the locals there. So, finger crossed, I could actually go back there next year. The people are so welcoming, the water is turquoise, with minor exception that every December the weather can get a bit unpredictable.

Here's more pictures from Bosnek beach & the clear waters!

You have to visit Biak Numfor at least once in a lifetime!

This island is one of a kind. Talk about beautiful, exotic, and has that pacific vibe to it. I am the first mapping this on @worldmappin and proud of that 😉. I only wished I could stay longer in that place and I am hoping for more opportunities in the future.

By the way, this was one of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on this year regarding to Hive awareness in Indonesian (Sept–Feb 2024–2025). You can learn how I managed it here :

I know that because you mentioned the cheap price for diving. Seriously, if the tickets weren't so expensive, I'd really consider it...

😂 The ticket costs as much as going to Japan for some reason.

It's actually quite remote but still reachable. Back in the day, there are even flights to hawaii. I'd love to see this place getting more tourists 😊
