Our Peaceful Stay at Balay Guti, Eastern Samar

Hallo! Today, I would like to share some photos from our stay at Balay Guti in Sulat, Eastern Samar, Philippines.
This was the second time we visited Balay Guti, and it was only about 30 minutes away from our hometown, making it easy for our family to come and visit us. The property is located a little farther from the town proper of Sulat, offering a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere away from the crowds.
We found Balay Guti through Airbnb and stayed there for three wonderful weeks. We even celebrated Christmas and New Year there, which made the experience even more special and memorable.
Balay Guti is a semi-bungalow villa with an American-inspired design. The house features a beautiful ocean theme, with marine-blue exterior walls and sea creatures painted throughout the property. Even the interior follows the same coastal style, creating a cozy and refreshing atmosphere that perfectly matches its beachside location.
Guests can rent the entire villa, including the swimming pool beside the house. Outside, there are seating areas where families can relax, enjoy drinks, and even have a bonfire in the evening.
Sadly, I only recorded videos of the interior, so I cannot share photos of it here. However, I can say that the house was fully equipped and very comfortable. The kitchen was located in front of large glass doors that brought in plenty of natural light. On the left side was the living room with a large flat-screen TV, while the master bedroom was on the right side. There was also a second floor that could accommodate additional guests.
The bathroom was clean, modern, fully furnished, and beautifully maintained. Everything about the villa felt fresh, comfortable, and welcoming, making our three-week stay truly enjoyable.

In front of Balay Guti is a resort owned by the same owner, and stretching along it is a beautiful shoreline of sand and rocks. It quickly became one of our favorite places during our stay.
Because only a few people visited the area, it always felt peaceful, private, and almost as if we had the entire place to ourselves. Every day, we would take long walks along the shore to relax and enjoy the fresh sea breeze. Sometimes we would lie on the sand, search for unique shells, bring a few snacks, enjoy a glass of wine, or simply swim in the calm waters.
What I loved most was the tranquility of the place. There were no crowds, no noise, and no worries—just the sound of the waves and the beauty of nature all around us. It was quiet, peaceful, and truly the perfect destination for a family getaway.

This is the view of Balay Guti at dusk. As the sun began to set, the house became even more beautiful, surrounded by warm lights that created a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
By the way, throughout our entire stay, there was a caretaker who looked after the property and was always available whenever we needed assistance. It gave us an extra sense of comfort and security during our vacation.
The owners were also very professional, friendly, and easy to communicate with. We truly appreciated their hospitality and the effort they put into making our stay enjoyable. We were very glad to have chosen this place for our holiday.

This is a panoramic view of the outside area. As you can see, the place is very peaceful, with no neighboring houses nearby, making it feel private and secluded.
The trampoline was also included in the accommodation, which was a wonderful bonus for families with children. My daughter absolutely loved it and spent a lot of time jumping and playing on it throughout our stay

It was only during our second visit to Balay Guti that we discovered another resort nearby, located on a small rocky islet. The islet was connected to the mainland by a bridge, which immediately caught our attention.
What amazed me most was that from a distance, you could hardly notice the cottages and other structures built there. It looked like nothing more than a simple rocky islet. However, as we walked closer, the bridge came into view, and we slowly realized that the place had been beautifully developed with concrete seating areas, charming cottages, a diving area, and several scenic spots for visitors to enjoy.
Of course, we had to go and explore it ourselves. As we wandered around, we were captivated by the stunning rock formations and breathtaking coastal views.

This is the other resort owned by the same owner. Unlike Balay Guti, it does not have private villas. Instead, it offers cottages, a swimming pool, and other facilities for guests to enjoy. In this view, you can see the shoreline stretching along the horizon, extending across much of the town of Sulat.

By the way, free breakfast was included in our three-week rental fee. Every morning, a friendly staff member delivered four plates of breakfast to our villa, as the complimentary meal was provided for four people.
We always had one extra plate each day, which was actually very convenient. Sometimes, it meant we didn’t have to cook a big meal because we could simply finish the leftovers later. It was also helpful whenever family members came to visit, as they could enjoy the extra serving with us.

Part of the experience also included the occasional surprises brought by the weather. Since our stay was from December to January, we already expected periods of rain and even stormy conditions, which are common in the Philippines during that time of year.
As you can see in the photos, the weather was not always ideal. We also experienced a few power outages, which was not surprising for me, but it was certainly a new experience for my husband. Thankfully, the owner had generators ready, so any inconvenience was kept to a minimum.
Despite these occasional interruptions, our stay was still wonderful. Overall, we would happily rate Balay Guti a perfect 10 out of 10. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. We also hope to return someday when we visit the Philippines again.💚
