Today I share with you a gastronomic experience that I lived and enjoyed recently and that left a pleasant taste in my palate.😋

Este domingo 14 de agosto se dio a casa llena la inauguración del Bulevar de Las Artes, en La Asunción, capital del estado Nueva Esparta, Venezuela🇻🇪. Iba con bastantes expectativas, ya que se trataba del regreso de una actividad que antes de la pandemia se había consolidado cada sábado como uno de los eventos más importantes y concurridos de la isla de Margarita. 🏝️

Así que después del paradón por el COVID, regresaba🎇 la feria gastronómica y artesanal a La Asunción. Debo decir que superó mis expectativas. Especialmente, por la motivación de la gente que volvía a hacer suyas las calles, vías que estuvieron solitarias durante muchos meses. Había un ambiente festivo, de alegría, reencuentro y gozo.🎉🎊

This Sunday, August 14, the inauguration of the Bulevar de Las Artes, in La Asunción, capital of the state of Nueva Esparta, Venezuela🇻🇪, took place to a full house. I was going with quite a lot of expectations, since it was the return of an activity that before the pandemic had been consolidated every Saturday as one of the most important and crowded events of Margarita Island. 🏝️

So after the stop by the COVID, the gastronomic and handicraft fair returned🎇 to La Asunción. I must say that it exceeded my expectations. Especially, because of the motivation of the people who returned to make the streets their own, roads that were lonely for many months. There was a festive atmosphere of joy, happiness, reunion and joy 🎉🎊.

Llegué a la hora pautada, a las 5:00 p.m, y ya la mayoría de los vendedores tenían instalados sus puestos. Poco a poco el bulevar 5 de Julio se fue llenando de visitantes ansiosos por disfrutar nuevamente de la Feria🎇. Al cabo de unas horas, el lugar estaba repleto de gente que miraba, caminaba y saboreaba las exquisiteces que vendían y admiraba las artesanías exhibidas.

I arrived at the scheduled time, at 5:00 p.m., and most of the vendors had already set up their booths. Little by little the 5 de Julio boulevard was filling up with visitors eager to enjoy the Feria🎇 again. After a few hours, the place was full of people looking, walking and tasting the delicacies they were selling and admiring the handicrafts on display.

Luego de caminar y recorrer cada uno de los stands🎪, mi primera parada fue un puesto de venta de empanadas, plato insigne de la gastronomía insular.🏝️ Mostraba esmero tanto en la decoración del lugar como en la preparación de los distintos sabores que sirven de relleno a estas suculentas medias lunas🌙 a base de harina de maiz.🌽

After walking and touring each of the stands🎪, my first stop was a stand selling empanadas, a signature dish of the island's gastronomy.🏝️ It showed care both in the decoration of the place and in the preparation of the different flavors that serve as filling for these succulent half-moons🌙 based on corn flour.🌽

Seguidamente, me agradó bastante una tienda que vendía chicha🥛, una bebida artesanal a base de arroz. La decoración del lugar captó mi curiosidad. Quedé satisfecha con el sabor y la atención.😋

Next, I was quite pleased with a store that sold chicha🥛, an artisanal rice-based drink. The decoration of the place caught my curiosity. I was satisfied with the taste and the service 😋.

A lo largo de la principal vía que acoge a esta feria al aire libre había una variada oferta de comida🍴😋: Parrillas, pollo a las brasas, alitas BBQ, empanadas, cachapas, cocteles de mariscos, preparaciones mexicanas, shawarmas, hamburguesas, tequeños, sándwich, entre otras. Para los amantes de los dulces y postres 🍰 había tortas, helados, frappé, quesillos, panes y una variedad de dulces típicos como las cocadas, el piñonate y el dulce de lechosa. También se podía disfrutar de diversas bebidas🍹🍸, licores artesanales, cócteles, mojitos para refrescar el cuerpo del calor caribeño.

Along the main road that hosts this outdoor fair there was a varied offer of food🍴😋: Grills, grilled chicken, BBQ wings, empanadas, cachapas, seafood cocktails, Mexican preparations, shawarmas, hamburgers, tequeños, sandwiches, among others. For those who love sweets and desserts 🍰 there were cakes, ice cream, frappé, quesillos, breads and a variety of typical sweets such as cocadas, piñonate and dulce de lechosa. You could also enjoy various drinks🍹🍸, handmade liquors, cocktails, mojitos to refresh the body from the Caribbean heat.

Mi parada oficial para comer fue en un puesto llamado Punto Pernil - Sandwich y más!, del cual emanaba un olor que te hacía detenerte sí o sí. Dos jóvenes vendían sándwich de pernil de cochino🐖. Quedé encantada con la atención, la generosa cantidad de relleno que colocaron entre los dos panes y el suculento sabor😋 de esa carne que se deshacía en la boca.

My official stop for lunch was at a stand called Punto Pernil - Sandwich y más! from which emanated a smell that made you stop. Two young men were selling pork leg sandwiches🐖. I was delighted with the attention, the generous amount of stuffing they placed between the two breads and the succulent taste😋 of that meat that melted in your mouth.

Lo más sensacional fue saber que ellas mismas cosechan el tomate🍅 que lleva el sándwich, elaboran la mantequilla especial que usan para sazonarlo y de paso tienen una cría de cerdos🐖. ¡Cómo no apoyar este tipo de emprendimientos! Además, su atención esmerada bien merece regresar y visitarles de nuevo.

The most sensational thing was to know that they themselves harvest the tomato🍅 that goes into the sandwich, they make the special butter used to season it and they also have a pig farm🐖. How could we not support this type of entrepreneurship! Besides, their careful attention deserves to come back and visit them again.

Entre las recomendaciones que puedo dar es que lleve calzado👟 cómodo porque se camina y bastante. La seguridad es buena y hay baños públicos.

Así que si un día estás de visita por la isla de Margarita🏝️ recuerda que los sábados a partir de las 5 de la tarde tienes una cita en el bulevar 5 de Julio de La Asunción, un encuentro con una bonita parte de Venezuela🇻🇪. Esa que emprende y dice presente para salir adelante, mostrando con esmero y dedicación lo mejor de sus creaciones.👍🏻
