Paseo en Bicicleta en la Avenida Cacique Maragüey / Bike Ride on Cacique Maragüey Avenue

Un gusto saludar de nuevo a esta maravillosa comunidad de mamás y papás de hive, en esta ocasión les comparto una salida en bicicleta con mis hijos a un lugar que tiene una hermosa vista al mar, espacio suficiente para pedalear, y lo más importante es que queda cerca de donde vivimos, les hablo del Monumento de Cumaná, ubicado en la Avenida Cacique Maragüey, antigua Avenida Perimetral, tiene un Boulevard de gran extensión, donde se acostumbra ir a trotar, correr, pasear en patines y andar en bicicleta, queda justamente al lado del mar, por lo que a medida que vas haciendo ejercicios, o caminando hacia el Monumento, puedes contemplar una hermosa vista hacia la Península de Paria.

It is a pleasure for me to greet this wonderful community of moms and dads of hive, this time I will share to you a bike ride with my children to a place that has a beautiful view of the sea, enough space to pedal, and the most important it is closer to where we live, I talk about the Monument of Cumaná, located on "Cacique Maragüey" Avenue, former Perimetral Avenue, it has a large boulevard, where people used to jog, run, skate and ride bikes, it is right next to the sea, so while you are doing exercises, or just walking by you can can contemplate a beautiful view of the Paria Peninsula.

A mis hijos les encanta correr bicicleta, desde pequeñitos su papá los inicio en el ciclismo, por lo que acostumbramos pedalear los fines de semana, en esta ocasión nos dispusimos ir al monumento, ya que teníamos meses que no íbamos; llegamos a la avenida a la altura de los coctelitos, llamada así porque es una zona de venta de productos del mar, donde se consiguen los famosos coctelitos Cumaneses capaces de levantar hasta a un muerto ja, ja, ja, y te llenan de energía, por lo que los turistas y locales se detienen aquí para probar estos preparados de camarones, pepitonas, calamares, madre perla, entre otros, mientras disfrutan de la vista y la brisa del mar.

My children love to run bike, since they were little their dad started them into cycling, so we usually pedal on weekends, this time we set out to go to the monument, since we had months we didn't go there; we arrived at the avenue at the point of the cocktails, so called because it is an area of sale of seafood, where you can buy the famous coctelitos Cumaneses able to raise even a dead person ha, ha, ha, ha, and fill you with a lot of energy, so tourists and locals stop by to taste these preparations, which contain shrimp, pepitonas, squid, mother of pearl, among others, while enjoying the view and the sea breeze.

Desde este punto hasta el Monumento, hay una distancia aproximadamente de 1 kilómetro, por lo que iniciamos a pedalear por las ciclo vías por alrededor de 10 minutos, las caminerias son suficientemente anchas por lo que puedes desplazarte en ambos sentidos sin ningún problema, nos detuvimos a tomar agua por unos instantes, y a contemplar la vista del mar, y pudimos ver algunos cangrejos que salían de las rocas, mis hijos no aguantaron la curiosidad y se dispusieron acercarse un poco más para tomarle algunas fotos.

From this point to the monument, there is a distance of approximately 1 kilometer, so we started pedaling along the bike paths for about 10 minutes, we stopped to drink water for a few moments, and to contemplate the view of the sea, and we could see some crabs coming out of the rocks, my children could not stand the curiosity and they wanted to get a little closer to take some pictures.

Continuamos nuestro recorrido hasta llegar al Monumento. Ahí nos bajamos de las bicicletas y descansamos a comer galletas y chupetas que les lleve a mis hijos para activar las energías de nuevo, ya que teníamos la brisa en contra y se cansaron un poco para llegar allá. Después de descansar un poco y recobrar el aliento, nos pusimos a correr bicicletas que fue a lo que venimos.

We continued our way until we reached the Monument. There we got off the bikes and rested to eat some cookies and lollipops, that I brough to my children to activate the energy again, since we had the breeze against us, and they got a little tired to get there. After resting a bit and catching our breath, we started to ride our bikes, which is the reason we came for.

En el lugar ya habían muchas familias con sus hijos realizando diferentes actividades, algunos niños jugaban pelota, otros andaban en monopatín, y habían niños corriendo bicicletas también, otros simplemente estaban corriendo mientras sus padres los observaban. En un extremo de la avenida se podía ver a un señor que alquilaba carros y motos de baterías para niños, es de mencionar que en esta época del año hace mucho frio, por lo que en las tardes sopla una brisa increíble, así que debes ir abrigado si no quieres resfriarte.

In the place there were already many families with their children doing different activities, some of them were playing ball, others were riding skateboards, and there were children running bicycles as well, others were simply running while their parents were watching them. At one side of the boulevard you could see a man, who was renting battery-powered cars and motorcycles for children. it is worth mentioning that at this time of the year it is very cold, so in the afternoons there is an incredible breeze, and you have to wear sweaters if you don't want to catch a cold.

En este sector podemos apreciar una escultura de Carlos Prada, la cual fue concebida para exaltar y celebrar la participación incondicional de mujeres y hombres, fue inaugurada durante los 500 Años de la Fundación de Cumaná en el año 2015, también en esa oportunidad le fue conferido el nuevo nombre a esta avenida rebautizandola como Cacique Maragüey.

In this sector we can appreciate a sculpture by Carlos Prada, which was conceived to exalt and celebrate the unconditional participation of women and men, was inaugurated during the 500 Years of the Foundation of Cumaná in 2015, also on that occasion was conferred the new name to this avenue renaming it as Cacique Maragüey.

Recuerdo que vinimos ese día a ver la escultura, ya de eso hace 8 años, llegamos tarde en la noche cuando terminaron los actos conmemorativos, ya que hubo un gran despliegue militar y estaban cerradas todas las vías de acceso, en ese entonces mi hijo mayor tenia de 3 añitos, en esa ocasión colocaron la bandera tricolor arriba de la escultura, todo estaba iluminado y habían muchas personas contemplando este lugar.

I remenber that we came that day to see the sculpture, eight years by now, we arrived at night, when the commemorative acts ended, since there was a large military deployment and all access roads were closed, at that time my oldest son was 3 years old, on that occasion they placed the tricolor flag on top of the sculpture, everything was illuminated, and there were many people contemplating this place.

A lo lejos, se puede apreciar también otra escultura, donde se visualiza a un Monje junto a un Indio, Monumento que fue erigido en el año 1965, siendo una Obra del Escultor Italo venezolano Hugo Daini, y de ahí su nombre a este sector. Actualmente, es una zona militar y no nos podemos acercar lo suficiente, hace años quedaba un Mirador y un restaurante debajo, era una zona muy visitada por los turistas, donde se podía contemplar de cerca esta escultura y tomarse fotos en el lugar, mientras disfrutabas de la hermosa vista.

In the distance, you can also see another sculpture, where there is a Monk with an Indian, this monument was erected in 1965, being a work of the Venezuelan Italian sculptor Hugo Daini, and hence its name to this sector. Currently, it is a military zone, and we can not get closer, years ago there was a viewpoint, and there was a restaurant downstairs, it was a very visited area by tourists, where you could look at the sculture, and take pictures of it, while enjoying the beautiful view.

En de resaltar, que este lugar es un punto de referencia para turistas y locales, debido a lo extenso y estratégico del lugar, aquí se han realizado numerosos eventos musicales, desfiles, celebraciones de carnavales, entre otros; por lo que se había dispuesto en esta zona un gran letrero que te daba la bienvenida a esta ciudad, el cual estaba la última vez que vinimos y ahora no lo vemos, nos enteramos que lo quitaron, ya que aparentemente estaba en mal estado.

It is worth mentioning, that this place is a reference point for tourists and locals, due to its size and strategic location, many musical events, parades, carnival celebrations, among others, have been held here, so there was a large sign in this area that welcomed you to this city, which was there the last time we came, and now we do not see it, we heard that it was removed because it was in bad conditions.

Una vez que terminamos de correr bicicleta, saltamos el murito y nos acercamos a ver el mar, es realmente tranquilizante ver y oír las olas de la playa cuando chocan con las piedras, mis hijos hicieron una competencia entre ellos a ver quién lanzaba más lejos las piedritas, y se divirtieron bastante, ambos quedaron ganadores.

Once we finished cycling, we jumped over the small stone border and we went to see the sea, it is relaxing to contemplate and hear the waves of the beach when they hit with the rocks, my children made a competition among themselves, to see who could throw the pebbles the farthest, and they had a lot of fun. Both were the winners.

Realmente la pasamos muy bien, y nos regresamos satisfechos de pasar una tarde diferente, donde mis hijos hicieron ejercicio, se divirtieron y pudieron disfrutar del aire fresco del mar, lo cual como madre me llena de alegría.
