This is my entry for the monomad challenge August 29: truths that are impossible to ignore: the dichotomy
Hello everyone in the @blackandwhite community. Today I share some uncomfortable photographs. I call them that because they are those photos and realities from which we all want to escape, from which we are grateful to be telling them and not being part of them.
Hola a todos en la comunidad @blackandwhite. El día de hoy Les comparto unos fotografías incómodas. Las llamo así por que son esas fotos y realidades de la que todos queremos escapar, de las que estamos agradecidos de estarlas contando y no de ser parte de ellas.
I captured these scenes in a simple outing to a prestigious bakery very early in the morning. When the guys heard us coming, they got up quickly and left before the owner of the alarm shop next door arrived.
Estas escenas las capté en una simple salida a una panadería prestigiosa muy temprano en la mañana. Cuando los muchachos nos escucharon llegar, se levantaron rápidamente y se fueron antes de que el dueño del negocio de alarmas qué está ubicado al lado llegase.
What business? I asked them because I only saw an old building in ruins, they pointed out a small business with no sign. An immense contrast to the luxury bakery, whose owner upon arrival immediately gave them some bread and another blanket that he gave them with great care, we were there very early at about 6:30 a.m. m. looking for a sponsorship, the bakery opens at 8, so the owner tells them that they will stay a while longer, but they preferred to walk away, but not before thanking everyone and even apologizing.
¿Cuál negocio?les pregunté porque sólo ví un viejo edificio en ruinas, me señalaron un pequeño negocio sin letrero. Un contraste inmenso con la panadería de lujo, cuyo dueño al llegar de inmediato les entregó unos panes y otra cobija que les entregó con mucho cariño, nosotros estábamos allí muy temprano a eso de las 6:30 a. m. buscando un patrocinio, la panadería abre a las 8, por lo que el dueño les digo que se quedarán otro rato, pero ellos prefirieron alejarse, no sin antes agradecer a todos y hasta disculparse.
Honestly, the moment took me by surprise, I asked permission to take the photos and I explained why I wanted to do it. They seemed confused, completely convinced that people have the right to do that without asking permission, and at the same time quick to walk away with their food.
A mi sinceramente el momento me tomó por sorpresa, les pedí permiso para tomar les fotos y les explique el porqué quería hacerlo. Parecían confundidos, completamente convencidos de que la gente tiene derecho a hacer eso sin pedir permiso y al mismo tiempo prontos en alejarse con su alimento.
I didn't have time to ask about their family.
No me dió tiempo preguntarles por su familia.
Later on and for the following days I have done nothing but reflect and think about human nature and the why of things, feeling useless and powerless at the same time.
Ya más adelante y por los siguientes días no he hecho más que reflexionar y pensar en la naturaleza humana y el porque de las cosas, sintiéndome inútil e impotente al mismo tiempo.
