Our epic Pacific Northwest adventure began at the majestic Smith Rock State Park in central Oregon—a rugged and breathtaking landscape that immediately set the tone for the rest of our journey. We came to this region not only to explore its dramatic scenery but also to visit our daughter and her beautiful family, making this leg of the trip even more special.

Smith Rock is truly one of Oregon’s crown jewels, renowned worldwide as a premier destination for rock climbing. Towering volcanic rock spires pierce the sky, casting dramatic shadows across the winding Crooked River below. Whether you're hiking the steep and iconic Misery Ridge Trail, enjoying a gentle stroll along the River Trail, or simply soaking in the views from the top of the canyon rim, every angle of this park is a photographer’s dream and a nature lover’s delight.

The high desert climate gives the landscape a unique golden glow, especially in the early morning or golden hour light.
