THE DISCOVERY OF AN UNBELIEVABLY MULTIPLE ISLAND LIKE CORSICA Part 2 (D/ENG/ESP)

Die spontane Idee, in der Hochsaison die überloffenen Mittelmeerstrände Europas mit einem Sprung auf die Insel Korsika hinter sich zu lassen, entpuppte sich als echter Geheimtipp. Klar waren wir bereits auf der Fähre, welche wir in Folge eines Staus als letztes Fahrzeug befuhren, nicht alleine. Doch konnten wir an den Stränden der Insel immer unser grosses Badetuch ohne Probleme ausbreiten. Denn davon gibt es genug. Manchmal kilometerlange Sandstrände,aber auch kleine geheime Buchten, welche nicht immer einfach zu erreichen waren.

The spontaneous idea of leaving Europe's over-open Mediterranean beaches behind with a jump to the Island of Corsica in high season turned out to be a real insider tip. Of course we were not alone on the ferry, which we were the last vehicle to take due to a traffic jam. But we could always spread out our big bath towel on the island's beaches without any problems. There are plenty of them. Sometimes kilometre-long sandy beaches, but also small secret bays, which were not always easy to reach.

La espontánea idea de dejar atrás las sobreabundantes playas mediterráneas de Europa con un salto a la Isla de Córcega en temporada alta resultó ser todo un acierto. Por supuesto, no estábamos solos en el ferry, que fuimos el último vehículo en tomar debido a un atasco. Pero siempre pudimos extender sin problemas nuestra gran toalla de baño en las playas de la isla. Hay muchas. A veces playas de arena kilométricas, pero también pequeñas calas secretas, a las que no siempre era fácil llegar.

Auch das Wetter und Klima auf der Insel meinten es gut mit uns. Während in Frankreich, Spanien und Portugal noch nie dagewesene Temperaturspitzen gemessen wurden, und vieler Orts auf dem Festland grossflächige Waldbrände wüteten und zerstörten, war die allgemeine Temperatur auf der Mittelmeerinsel immer ein paar Grade tiefer als in Europa. Natürlich gab es auch in den trockenen Gebieten von Korsika kleinere Waldbrände, welche aber immer ziemlich schnell von patroullierenden Löschflugzeugen erkannt und unter Kontrolle gebracht werden könnten. Wurde es uns aber doch einmal zu heiss an den Stränden oder Wanderwegen von Korsika, schnappten wir unsere Wasserschuhe und einen wasserdichten Rucksack, und vergnügten uns in einem der zahlreichen Flüssen mit baden oder Flusswanderungen im kühlen und klaren Süsswasser.

The weather and climate on the island were also kind to us. While unprecedented temperature peaks were measured in France, Spain and Portugal, and large forest fires raged and destroyed many places on the mainland, the general temperature on the Mediterranean island was always a few degrees lower than in Europe. Of course, there were also smaller forest fires in the dry areas of Corsica, but they could always be detected and brought under control quite quickly by patrolling fire-fighting aircraft. But if it got too hot on the beaches or hiking trails of Corsica, we grabbed our water shoes and a waterproof backpack, and enjoyed ourselves in one of the many rivers with a swim or a river hike in the cool and clear fresh water.

El tiempo y el clima de la isla también fueron amables con nosotros. Aunque en Francia, España y Portugal se registraron picos de temperatura sin precedentes, y grandes incendios forestales arrasaron muchos lugares del continente, la temperatura general en la isla mediterránea fue siempre unos grados más baja que en Europa. Por supuesto, también se produjeron pequeños incendios forestales en las zonas secas de Córcega, pero siempre pudieron ser detectados y controlados con bastante rapidez por los aviones de extinción que patrullaban. Pero si hacía demasiado calor en las playas o las rutas de senderismo de Córcega, cogíamos nuestros zapatos de agua y una mochila impermeable, y disfrutábamos en uno de los muchos ríos con un baño o una caminata fluvial en el agua fresca y clara.

Auch kulinarisch und gastronomisch hat uns Korsika überzeugt. Klar ist der Einfluss der klassischen französischen Küche nicht zu leugenen, doch flechten die korsischen Köche gekonnt inseleigene Produkte wie Wildschwein, Kastanien oder Schaf-/und Ziegenkäse in die Gerichte ein.

Corsica also convinced us from a culinary and gastronomic point of view. Of course, the influence of classic French cuisine is undeniable, but Corsican chefs skilfully weave indigenous products such as wild boar, chestnuts or sheep's and goat's cheese into their dishes.

Córcega también nos convenció desde el punto de vista culinario y gastronómico. Por supuesto, la influencia de la cocina clásica francesa es innegable, pero los chefs corsos entretejen hábilmente en sus platos productos autóctonos como el jabalí, las castañas o los quesos de oveja y cabra.
