IMRESSIONS FROM THE BLOCK 2025 - A new entry for #photographylovers

#deutsch Es war wiedermal 1. Mai, und natürlich bin ich auch dieses Jahr, wie jedes Jahr wenn ich gerade in Zürich verweile, am grossen morgendlichen Umzug mit ca. 20000 Menschen aus Zürich, bei schönstem Wetter, durch die Zürcher Innenstadt gezogen. Und auch dieses Jahre haben linke Parteien, politische Jugendorganisationen, Arbeitnehmerverbände und Gewerkschaften mit grossen und kleinen Transparenten, Plakaten oder Fahnen, pfeifend, singend, tanzend und "Siamo Tutti Antifascisti!"-skandierend, auf Zu-/und Missstände, Wünsche und Träume in Berufs-/und Privatleben, auf sich aufmerksam gemacht. Ich mag es Teil dieser grossen, bunten Masse zu sein. Ich mag es wenn meine Mitmenschen den Mut und die Motivation, an diesem in Zürich arbeitsfreien Tag, ihre Anliegen zusammen auf die Strasse tragen, denn bei uns in der Schweiz ist dies noch möglich. Der Umzug verlief ruhig und folgte seiner gewohnten Route vom Arbeiterquartier Langstrasse, über den Hauptbahnhof mit Europaallee, durch einen kleinen Teil der Bahnhofstrasse (wo die Banken und der grosse Luxus beginnt, wurde der Umzug umgeleitet), dem Stadtfluss Limmat entlang, bis zum Sechseläutenplatz. Dieser Platz ist nach einer Feierlichkeit benannt, wo die Zünfte (in meinen Augen die Oberklasse) in traditionellen Kleider durch Zürich ziehen. Und wir haben uns dieses Jahr einige Tage später am 1.Mai den Platz zurückgeholt...der Klassenkampf lebt!!!!
Wenn die Wut überhand nimmt, kam es auch dieses Jahr zu kleineren Sachbeschädigungen wie zerbrochene Scheiben ("Scheiben splitter und ihr schreit, Menschen sterben und ihr schweigt...") und meist gezielte Sprayereien (siehe Bilder). Auch wurden Pyros gezündet und dann und wann knallten Böller. Und manchmal wurden die Ordnungskräfte (Zivil und in Uniform), die in kleinen Gassen aufpassten, dass niemand einen falschen Weg einschlug, zur Erfrischung bei diesem schönen Wetter mit Wasserballone eingedeckt.
Und natürlich hatte ich auch meine Kamera dabei. Obwohl ich aber dann feststellen musste, das ich an diesem Tag nicht gerade In The Mood war viele grossartige Bilder zu knipsen, sind einige schöne Eindrücke eines gelunegen Umzuges entstanden, welche bereits von Freunden als Kunst gerühmt wurden. So schrieb mir ein guter Freund: "Brutale Ästhetik, Reduktion aufs Maximum. Ich wage mich mal weit aus dem Fenster zu lehnen und sage Kunst!!!" ... Danke...!!!!

#english It was May Day again, and of course this year, like every year when I'm in Zurich, I took part in the big morning parade through Zurich city centre with around 20,000 people from Zurich in the best weather. And this year too, left-wing parties, political youth organisations, workers' associations and trade unions drew attention to their grievances, wishes and dreams in their professional and private lives with large and small banners, posters and flags, whistling, singing, dancing and chanting ‘Siamo Tutti Antifascisti!’. I like being part of this big, colourful crowd. I like it when my fellow human beings have the courage and motivation to take their concerns to the streets together on this day off from work in Zurich, because this is still possible here in Switzerland. The parade proceeded quietly and followed its usual route from the working-class neighbourhood of Langstrasse, via the main railway station with Europaallee, through a small part of Bahnhofstrasse (where the banks and big luxury start, the parade was diverted), along the city river Limmat, to Sechseläutenplatz. This square is named after a celebration where the guilds (in my eyes the upper class) parade through Zurich in traditional dress. And we took the square back a few days later this year on 1 May...the class struggle lives on!!!!
When anger gets out of hand, there was also minor damage to property this year, such as broken windows (‘Windows shatter and you scream, people die and you remain silent...’) and mostly targeted sprayings (see pictures). Pyrotechnics were also set off and now and again firecrackers went off. And sometimes the law enforcement officers (plainclothes and in uniform), who were watching out in small alleyways to make sure no-one went the wrong way, were pelted with water balloons as a refreshment in this beautiful weather.
And of course I also had my camera with me. Although I had to realise that I wasn't exactly in the mood to take many great pictures that day, I did manage to capture some beautiful impressions of a successful parade, which friends have already praised as art. A good friend wrote to me: "Brutal aesthetics, reduction to the maximum. I'm going to go out on a limb and say art!!!" ... Thank you...!!!!

#spanish Volvía a ser el Primero de Mayo y, por supuesto, este año, como cada año que estoy en Zúrich, participé en el gran desfile matutino por el centro de la ciudad con unos 20.000 zuriqueses y con el mejor tiempo. Y también este año, partidos de izquierda, organizaciones políticas juveniles, asociaciones de trabajadores y sindicatos llamaron la atención sobre sus quejas, deseos y sueños en su vida profesional y privada con grandes y pequeñas pancartas, carteles y banderas, silbando, cantando, bailando y coreando «¡Siamo Tutti Antifascisti!». Me gusta formar parte de esta gran y colorida multitud. Me gusta cuando mis semejantes tienen el valor y la motivación de sacar juntos sus preocupaciones a la calle en este día libre del trabajo en Zúrich, porque esto todavía es posible aquí en Suiza. El desfile transcurrió en silencio y siguió su ruta habitual desde el barrio obrero de Langstrasse, pasando por la estación central de ferrocarril con Europaallee, a través de una pequeña parte de Bahnhofstrasse (donde empiezan los bancos y el gran lujo, el desfile se desvió), a lo largo del río Limmat de la ciudad, hasta Sechseläutenplatz. Esta plaza debe su nombre a una celebración en la que los gremios (a mis ojos, la clase alta) desfilan por Zúrich con trajes tradicionales. ¡¡¡¡Y volvimos a tomar la plaza unos días más tarde, el 1 de mayo de este año...

Cuando la ira se desborda, este año también se produjeron pequeños daños materiales, como ventanas rotas («Las ventanas se rompen y tú gritas, la gente muere y tú permaneces en silencio...») y pintadas con spray (ver fotos). También se encendió pirotecnia y de vez en cuando estallaron petardos. Y a veces los agentes del orden (de paisano y de uniforme), que vigilaban en las callejuelas para asegurarse de que nadie se equivocaba de camino, recibían globos de agua como refresco en este tiempo tan bonito.
Y, por supuesto, yo también llevaba mi cámara. Aunque tuve que darme cuenta de que ese día no estaba precisamente de humor para hacer muchas fotos estupendas, conseguí captar algunas bellas impresiones de un desfile exitoso, que mis amigos ya han elogiado como arte. Un buen amigo me escribió: "Estética brutal, reducción al máximo. Voy a arriesgarme y decir ¡¡¡arte!!!". ... ¡¡¡¡Gracias...!!!!
