A GOOD PLACE FOR A GOD IN SEVILLA (D/ENG/ESP) - A new entry for historic architecture and photography lovers

Bei unserem Aufenthalt in Sevilla (Spanien) haben wir es wieder getan. Wir machen es ja wirklich nicht oft. Und wenn dann auch ganz unauffällig. Doch manchmal siegt die Lust und Neugierde. Die Lust, sich ein unglaubliches und altes Gebäude anzusehen. Und so haben wir uns zu hunderten anderen Touristen gesellt und haben die Kathedrale von Sevilla Santa María de la Sede besichtigt. Und es war wirklich sehr eindrücklich.

We did it again during our stay in Seville (Spain). We really don't do it very often. And if we do, we do it very inconspicuously. But sometimes desire and curiosity win out. The desire to look at an incredible and old building. And so we joined hundreds of other tourists and visited Seville's Santa María de la Sede Cathedral. And it was really very impressive.

Volvimos a hacerlo durante nuestra estancia en Sevilla (España). No lo hacemos muy a menudo. Y si lo hacemos, lo hacemos muy discretamente. Pero a veces ganan el deseo y la curiosidad. El deseo de contemplar un edificio increíble y antiguo. Así que nos unimos a otros cientos de turistas y visitamos la Catedral de Santa María de la Sede de Sevilla. Y fue realmente impresionante.

Das grösste gotische Bauwerk und drittgrösste Gotteshaus der Welt thront stolz in mitten von Sevilla und wurde im 15 Jahrhundert auf den Mauern einer alten maurischen Moschee erbaut. Das ehemalige Minarett und Wahrzeichen Sevillas wurde zum Kathedralen-Turm Giralda umfunktioniert. Beim Betreten, des schon von Aussen imposant wirkenden Gebäudes wird einem das gigantische Ausmaß des Bauwerks bewusst. Insgesamt wurden fünf Kirchenschiffe mit bis zu 150 Meter Länge erbaut, und 32 Säulen schwingen sich bis zu 40 Meter in die Höhe zur Decke empor.

The largest Gothic building and third largest house of worship in the world sits proudly in the middle of Seville and was built in the 15th century on the walls of an old Moorish mosque. The former minaret and landmark of Seville was converted into the cathedral tower Giralda. When you enter the building, which already looks imposing from the outside, you realise the gigantic scale of the structure. A total of five naves up to 150 metres long were built, and 32 columns rise up to 40 metres to the ceiling.

El mayor edificio gótico y tercer lugar de culto del mundo se alza orgulloso en pleno centro de Sevilla y fue construido en el siglo XV sobre los muros de una antigua mezquita árabe. El antiguo alminar y monumento emblemático de Sevilla se convirtió en la torre de la catedral de la Giralda. Al entrar en el edificio, que ya parece imponente desde fuera, uno se da cuenta de la gigantesca escala de la estructura. En total, se construyeron cinco naves de hasta 150 metros de largo y 32 columnas que se elevan hasta 40 metros hasta el techo.

Das Fotografieren solcher historischer Gebäude ist für mich eher Neuland, da ich eher moderne Architektur und Wolkenkratzer fokussiere. Aber langsam beginnt es echt Spass zum machen.

Photographing such historical buildings is rather new territory for me, as I tend to focus on modern architecture and skyscrapers. But it's really starting to be fun.
