Your student is an interesting person, he is 72 years old and a retired English teacher. At the time he retired, he served as director of one of the oldest high schools in our town and developed excellent management in the performance of his work.
With a great vocation and love for his work, it was very difficult for him to accept as a reality that he was now free of all commitment to the study center.
This became totally evident from the second day of his retirement since...
...since he unexpectedly showed up at the high school with a newspaper under his arm, greeted the doorman with the affable but respectful signature that characterized him and then sat on one of the benches in the front yard to read the newspaper carefully while happily responding to the affectionate greeting of those who passed by.
When the bell rang indicating the end of the morning shift, he got up and went home to have lunch as he routinely did since he started working at the high school - when he had just graduated, since this had been his only job as a teacher -.
His family, surprised and a little worried by his disappearance that morning from the family home, did not look favorably on the fact that he had spent half a day at school. They let him know, to which he responded only with a sullen and uncomfortable silence.
In the afternoon he managed to sneak out of his house again and in a moment of carelessness and family distraction he returned to the high school, to the same bank, but now with another newspaper.
This time his siblings showed up, took him by the arm and took him with them. "You have nothing to do here, this stage of your life is already over."
And he had to go home with them and adapt step by step to the change in activity.
Nowadays... It's something else, another life and quite entertaining! He practices table tennis and belongs to a team for that sport. He is quite involved in the activities of the local church, in the organization of retired teachers, in the area's grandparents' club and now he has begun to learn to play guitar. Gone are the dark days when he thought the rest of his life would be boring and idle. Now he also has to set aside time for daily practice of his instrument and the songs he practices are all taken from the book "Sing and Walk" since his musical preparation is aimed at being able to accompany the songs of the Sunday Mass of the local church with the guitar.
The photo is of his guitar, of his book and represents a new point of enthusiasm in his life.
