Enjoying the most iconic place in Sancti Spíritus.
Hello, friends. I tell you that a few days ago I was lucky enough to revisit the most iconic monument of Sancti Spíritus, and let me tell you that it was quite an experience. This is the second time I visit this place, and each time I discover something new that keeps me attracted.
On this occasion, I was fortunate to be part of a group of visitors and a guide who explained its history and construction method, which I was unaware of. He told us that this majestic bridge was inaugurated in 1825. Imagine the number of stories he has seen pass by. The reason it was created was to facilitate the crossing of the Yayabo River, which was difficult to cross during the rainy season.

The curious thing is that, when you look at it, you can't help but think of a medieval bridge. It turns out that it is built with bricks, but the great thing is that no cement was used to join the bricks, using lime and sand. An ancient process, but as strong as modern cement. A monument to resistance, never better said.
The Yayabo River, which gives its name to this architectural prodigy, received us with a surprise: it was invaded by the water hyacinth, known here as duck flower, giving it a special touch at this time of the year. For me it was a natural spectacle added to the history of the place, since this phenomenon happens every year.
This bridge is located in one of the oldest areas of Sancti Spíritus. Cobblestone streets, old structures, so it is not difficult to find colonial structures. And, undoubtedly, the bridge is the most iconic structure of the city. So it is identifiable of Sancti Spíritus.
Sancti Spíritus and its emblematic bridge always have something new to offer. But this is the wonder of this town founded in 1516. So if you visit this city, you can not miss this iconic place.

Cuba is a country that has stopped in time. Here it is possible to find a whole colonial city, like Trinidad or Old Havana. Kilometers and kilometers of structures and roads of more than 2 centuries. You shouldn't miss it, it's great.
