Una de las frases que más les he compartido en mi blog en los 4 años que llevo aquí es "inventar es mi pasión", les cuento el motivo de esta oportunidad que la dije. Hace par de meses me compré un vestido porque me gusto el estampado de rayas y la tela, aunque el modelo no me convencía del todo, por el precio (Unos 3$) me lo terminé llevando porque "why not?". El caos es que estaba olvidado en mi closet y en un momento de desesperación, porque no sabía que ponerme para un acto, decidí arreglarlo una noche antes.

One of the phrases that I have shared the most in my blog in the 4 years I've been here is “inventing is my passion”, I tell you the reason for this opportunity that I said it. A couple of months ago I bought a dress because I liked the striped print and the fabric, although the model did not convince me at all, for the price (about 3$) I ended up taking it because “why not?”. The chaos is that it was forgotten in my closet and in a moment of desperation, because I did not know what to wear for an event, I decided to fix it one night before.

Como esto fue muy espontáneo, no tengo muchas fotos, ya que cuando decidí documentar ya había cortado el vestido a la mitad. Pero recordé tomarle foto a la parte superior antes de hacerle cualquier cosa, ya que era lo que quería cambiar. El problema principal es que el vestido tenía ese corte en V muy pronunciado y quedaba raro, para esa abertura sentía que quedaba mejor unos tiros sencillos, así que comencé a separar piezas. Primero separe la parte superior de la falda, después retire las mangas y luego coloque alfileres cuando quedo la forma que quería.

As this was very spontaneous, I don't have many photos, because when I decided to document I had already cut the dress in half. But I remembered to take a picture of the top before I did anything to it, since that's what I wanted to change. The main problem was that the dress had a very pronounced V cut and it looked weird, for that opening I felt that it was better to have some simple straps, so I started to separate pieces. First I separated the upper part of the skirt, then I removed the sleeves and then I put pins when I had the shape I wanted.

En la parte de atrás había un cierre que no quería y no necesitaba, así que lo retire y con esa tela comencé a hacer unos tiros, los cuales no quedaron hermosos, pero cumplían con lo necesario. Luego decidí transformar la parte de atrás, que era cerrada, para hacerla un poco más descubierta con 4 rectángulos, dos que iban unidos a cada lateral y los otros 2 sueltos para hacer la función del lazo. Los 2 primeros rectángulos de tela los coloqué antes de unir el vestido, pero no documente en el momento, por eso ya sale unido en la foto. Y cabe destacar que a la falda no le hice modificación de modelo, solo la hice un poco más corta.

In the back there was a zipper that I didn't want and didn't need, so I removed it and with that fabric I started to make some straps, which were not beautiful, but they did what I needed. Then I decided to transform the back, which was closed, to make it a little more uncovered with 4 rectangles, two that were attached to each side and the other 2 loose to make the function of the bow. The first 2 rectangles of fabric were placed before joining the dress, but I didn't document them at the time, that's why they are already attached in the photo. And it is worth mentioning that I didn't modify the skirt, I just made it a little shorter.

Termine este vestido como a las 2 de la mañana, ya que todo lo hago a mano, así no dormí más de 3 horas, pero valió la pena porque el resultado me gustó mucho. Como les mencioné este vestido era para un acto, les dejo un par de fotos de ese día. Posteriormente, me lo volví a poner en mi casa para ver de forma más detallada si necesitaba arreglar algo y ya con par de ideas en mente como colocar una elástica para que ajuste la cintura, mejorar los tiros y quizás hacer el escote más abajo, podré estar más tranquila, pero eso es trabajo para otro día. Espero que les haya encantado conocer este trabajo express que hice a mano en una noche, nos leemos pronto!

I finished this dress at about 2 o'clock in the morning, since I do everything by hand, so I didn't sleep more than 3 hours, but it was worth it because I liked the result a lot. As I mentioned this dress was for an event, I leave a couple of pictures of that day. Afterwards, I put it back on at home to see in more detail if I needed to fix anything and with a couple of ideas in mind such as placing an elastic to adjust the waist, improve the straps and perhaps make the neckline lower, I can be more relaxed, but that's work for another day.
