Hace un par de semanas, creo que incluso hace más de un mes, les estuve comentando que quería leer un libro que me llamaba muchísimo la atención, llamado Quicksilver, de la autora Callie Hart. Éste es un libro que se volvió muy viral en TikTok, ya que las personas lo estaban comparando con historias como Acotar y a las de sangre, que son libros de romantasy bastante populares, y los cuales tienen protagonistas masculinos, muy marcados, que comparten ciertas similitudes, como lo son el poder de las sombras, que tuvieron pasados un poco traumáticos, y que tienen una forma de tratar a las protagonistas o a las mujeres de las que se enamoran, muy bonitas, cuando ya tienen un romance muy establecido. Espero yo que yo quería leer este libro y no justo ahora que pueda hacerlo, así que les traigo una pequeña reseña sin tantos spoilers.

A couple of weeks ago, I think it was even more than a month ago, I was telling you that I wanted to read a book that really caught my attention, called Quicksilver, by the author Callie Hart. This book went viral on TikTok, as people were comparing it to stories like Acotar and those of blood, which are quite popular romantasy books, and which have very distinctive male protagonists who share certain similarities, such as the power of shadows, who had somewhat traumatic pasts, and who have a very beautiful way of treating the female protagonists or the women they fall in love with, once they have a well-established romance. I hope I wanted to read this book and not just now that I can, so I'm bringing you a short review without too many spoilers.

Básicamente en este libro nos presenta un mundo muy complicado, ya que nuestra protagonista llamada Saeris Fane, es una chica que vive en un desierto, en un lugar que está como divididos en distritos, desde el mas pobre, hasta el que tiene una calidad desde vida decente. Obviamente nuestra protagonista tenía que vivir en el distrito más pobre, en el que es casi que imposible conseguir comida, agua y otras cosas. Por lo que ella se dedica más que todo a robar, y por este medio que termina cometiendo un error, y es llevada como hace un Castillo, para que la condena por sus crímenes básicamente. Pero como ella es especial, y tiene un don con los metales, de forma casi que inconsciente, ella abre un portal para ir hacia otro mundo, que es el mundo de los Faes. Es ahí cuando conoce a nuestro otro protagonista, KingFisher. Ellos dos van a tener que trabajar juntos, aunque no se lleven bien para poder lograr sus objetivos. En este nuevo mundo mágico, se nos reveló muchísimas cosas, como la magia y la alquimia, algo que me parece bastante interesante, y que le da como un toque diferenciador a esta historia.

Basically, this book presents us with a very complicated world, as our protagonist, Saeris Fane, is a girl who lives in a desert, in a place that is divided into districts, from the poorest to the one with a decent quality of life. Obviously, our protagonist had to live in the poorest district, where it is almost impossible to get food, water, and other things. So she spends most of her time stealing, and in doing so, she ends up making a mistake and is taken to a castle to be punished for her crimes. But since she is special and has a gift with metals, she almost unconsciously opens a portal to another world, the world of the Faes. That's when she meets our other protagonist, KingFisher. The two of them are going to have to work together, even though they don't get along, in order to achieve their goals. In this new magical world, many things are revealed to us, such as magic and alchemy, something that I find quite interesting and that gives this story a distinctive touch.

Obviamente, como ya es un poco predecible en este tipo de libros, este protagonista, todo oscuro y una protagonista humana que quiere sobrevivir. Básicamente, terminamos creando un vínculo, hay un final que me pareció bastante increíble y muy dramático, obviamente. Si es un libro bastante lleno de cliché, pero algo que a mí me gusta mucho, si me dio cierto Feelings, como a los libros que les mencioné por arriba, que son los que los comparan, pero realmente nada demasiado grave, ni que se sienta como una copia. Siento que esto es una historia que tiene bastante potencial, que está escrita para hacer una saga y espero que se publique pronto los libros en español, sé que el segundo se va a publicar en inglés bastante pronto y no sé, tengo bastantes expectativas con esta historia. Obviously, as is somewhat predictable in this type of book, we have a dark male protagonist and a human female protagonist who wants to survive. Basically, we end up creating a bond, and there's an ending that I found quite incredible and very dramatic, obviously. It's a book full of clichés, but I really like it. It gave me certain feelings, like the books I mentioned above, which are the ones it's compared to, but really nothing too serious, nor does it feel like a copy. I feel like this is a story with a lot of potential, written to be a series, and I hope the books are published in Spanish soon. I know the second one is going to be published in English pretty soon, and I don't know, I have high expectations for this story. I hope you enjoyed hearing my thoughts on it, see you soon!
